Initially, when I started with Spear several years ago, I loved the program. I attended almost every workshop and seminar in their curriculum. I utilized their consulting services for a year, it ended poorly, almost as if they were trying to punish me for going in a different direction and not renewing for an additional year. They are a really great educational company. Their customer service has plummeted over the last 2 years I've been with them. Fees have increased as levels of service have decreased. During the pandemic, I was forced to cancel a workshop and was advised it was something I could reschedule. I attempted to reschedule this workshop and was just told that I can no longer use this $7000 something credit because more than a year has passed. I don't disagree with the policy, but I do disagree with not informing the clients about the policy. Had I know I'd forfeit that amount of money, I certainly would have made it a priority to return for a workshop sooner. It's a shame to me that such a strong academic institution, who markets themselves as teaching dentists how to provide excellent service in their offices, provides this type of service to their own clients.

Edit: after posting this review I received a call from Spear (and CDOCs) and was offered the option to use the expired credit as an offering of good will. I appreciate the effort spear/cdocs makes to earn back business when their clients get ready to sever ties, I just wish it didn't have to get to that point of me being ready to abandon spear altogether before they are willing to help. Again I think they have a great product and are exceptional with their online learning, in person educators and facilities... the business side has just been rocky lately.

Edit #2: in the end, the credit I had toward a workshop has been forfeited. Spear allowed me to sign up for a workshop as promised, then two weeks before it was scheduled to take place, they canceled the course. I was bummed, but was told I could schedule the same workshop a few months later. I rearranged my flights, hotel and patient schedule and planned to attend the workshop at the next offered date. When it got close to time for the workshop again, I reached out to spear to confirm details. I was told there was no workshop happening. It had been cancelled and they forgot to inform me, is what I was told. Again, I had less than 2 weeks to adjust my schedule and cancel flights/hotel. In total it cost me 4 days of seeing patients. They were unapologetic. I was told several times I'd be refunded for the workshop, but over a month later that hasn't happened and they avoid my calls and emails. The spear group has evolved into something unprofessional and disorganized. Hard lesson to learn with a group that at one time I really loved.

I signed up with spears last year. I had agreed to a certain monthly fee, which increased significantly after one year without my consent they renewed the membership. Since then i’ve been trying to cancel my membership and they’re still charging me! I had called customer service, emailed 2 reps. They acknowledge it but don’t cancel the membership. such a waste of my time and energy. Never expected this from a big institution like Spears! They lost all my respect.

I was introduced to Spear in 2019 and took the two first introductory workshops. The experience was so eye opening that I decided to finish the entire curriculum as fast as I possibly could. I am a different dentist now, more confident, definitely more knowledgeable, more thorough, more productive and efficient. It's reassuring to have access to hundreds of some of the best dentists in the country for advice and guidance when I'm dealing with complicated cases. I just wish I had learned about Spear Education earlier in my career. I can not wait to attend the new Workshop "Digital Adoption."

My experience with Spear has been excellent! The quality of the education and the multitude and variety of materials is a great value, in my opinion. I feel like the attention to detail and encouragement of us to provide the highest quality dentistry available to our patients based on current techniques and research has helped me be a better dentist. I would definitely recommend Spear.

VERY difficult to cancel membership. Plan on it costing you several emails, calls, and hours on hold. Plan on unresponsive members from Spear. Plan on it costing an extra $500 + in monthly fees and charges. They make it really easy to sign up and impossible to cancel. It makes cancelling a gym membership seem like concierge service. Sad that they are letting this dictate dentists last experience with their company. I cannot recommend Spear Education because of this and a few other details.

Spear education has had the single most impact on my dental education in my 33yrs of dentistry. I can't speak high enough about the program. I teach part time at Univ. of Colorado School of Dentistry and encourage all my residents to consider Spear as an ideal path to further their education.

Great education for dentists that actually want to learn more than simple drill and fill dentistry. Expensive, yes! But you always get what you pay for. I have attended numerous seminars and workshops (FGTP and occlusion), and can honestly say that it has improved my abilities and skills as a practitioner. The individuals who teach at Spear truly have a passion for what they do, and demonstrate that when teaching.
