Tao of Clay is a fantastic community ceramic studio! Welcoming, supportive, and beautifully organized, it’s the perfect space for potters of all levels. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always eager to help you grow. I’ve attended two workshops here—both were fun and incredibly educational. Whether you’re a novice or a pro, Tao of Clay offers an inspiring space to create and connect. Highly recommend!

The hand building class with Josh at Tao of Clay is helping me grow as an artist. Learning new ways to think about texture, form and design using simple building techniques is challenging and relaxing at the same time. The class size is small so you get more one on one instruction. A comfortable work space and a staff that is excited to share their expertise and love for the craft makes this place special. I'll be signing up for the membership and hopefully more classes.

I am grateful for having found Tao of Clay and the incredible team there! The studio is stunning and Josh, Donovan and Ava are all incredible at making you feel welcome. Throwing 2 helped me get comfortable throwing with more clay through Josh’s hands on approach to teaching. And I loved the grounding before each class to really connect your mind and body in creativity. Already looking forward to the next one!

Well developed class. Wish I could throw more quickly!
The firing was a new technique I was glad to learn and a good social connection with potters from around San Diego.
It would be helpful to have wheel throwing experience so the vessels could be well made.

Tao of Clay is such a positive creative community. I learned so much at the pit fire workshop about the technical logistics of the process. In addition, Josh helped me to venture out of my comfort zone to create unique pieces. The group was super supportive, talented and fun! I will be back for sure!

I recently took the Intro to Throwing class and had an amazing experience! Josh was knowledgable and passionate, making the learning process enjoyable and engaging.
The class was well structured, with plenty of hands on practice. I love how supportive the atmosphere was; everyone encouraged each other, which made it a fantastic environment for learning. By the end of the session, I felt more confident in my skills and even completed a few pieces.
I highly recommend this class to anyone interested in pottery. I can’t wait to take more classes in the future!
