My husband and I took a pottery class with Janna, and it was an amazing experience! We had never done pottery, and it was a really fun date where we got to pick up a new skill. My husband, a Sueze cinephile, insisted on reenacting the movie Ghost.

Janna was so patient with us and was a great teacher while still leaving as much room as we wanted for creativity. I was able to make an adorable pot for my plants and a cute coffee mug. My husband, with the hands of a gorilla, was able to produce a large dish we use to hold car keys. Janna also helped us pick the finish and colors for our creations - including my husband’s attempt at an upside down top hat - and we can’t wait to make more!

Take her class, you won’t regret it!

This was my first experience with a wheel and I had a blast. The space is very comfortable. Janna is a wonderful instructor and makes the whole experience very fun. I’ve done two lessons and am ready for more. It’s a great date idea!

So much fun!! I took one of Janna’s classes with my son and we really enjoyed it. And let me tell you, I have a newfound respect for ceramics artist because it is not easy but Janna was amazing at explaining the process and helping you through each step. If you just take a look at her work you can tell she’s passionate and an expert at her craft. I’ll definitely continue to take classes with her to work on my ceramics skills.

I cannot say enough good things about Janna and isiko!! My partner surprised me with a private pottery class where Janna taught us how to use the pottery wheel, throw and center our clay, and how to create a range of ceramics.

It was a 2-hr lesson, and we made 3-4 items each. I made a cute dish that holds some necklaces on my dresser, a shot glass, and a water bowl for my cat. My partner made some dishes, a planter, and a small clay sculpture of his dog.

When we finished sculpting, we we got to pick out colors, and identify which parts of the piece we wanted glazed. She handled all the firing and glazing for us after our class. The pieces were ready to be picked up around 2 weeks later.

The whole time she was so calm, patient, and clear with instructions, and encouraged us to try things out to see what felt good for us.

The studio was in downtown San Diego, and was super cute and cozy. She was super inviting and showed us around, including showing us some examples of pieces we could use as inspiration.

It really felt like we got to play artists for a day haha. We had sooo much fun and can’t wait to go back to her soon. Thank you!!!!!

Oh and come prepared to get a little messy 🙂
