I have been a patient at San Diego Center for Vision Care for decades (one of their first 200 patients). At the start of their Vision Therapy program, I was selected to participate in it for adults to determine if it would be beneficial for adults (indeed, it is!). Dr. Carl Hillier and Dr. Melissa Hillier are compassionate optometrists, and explain in a comprehensive manner everything that is happening (or not happening) with one’s vision.

Dr. Carl Hillier was fantastic! Incredibly detailed in his exam and went above and beyond to explain the results and best path forward. Extremely patient and kind. I’ve seen nearly a dozen specialists in the last few years and Dr. Hillier made me feel so hopeful and understood! Highly recommend especially for brain injury/concussion patients.

I completed vision therapy in March of 2024. I was experiencing issues with having anxiety and panic attacks while driving and sometimes just reading text on a computer or phone for some reason starting in 2018. I went thru vestibular therapy for vertigo as prescribed by a Dr. This helped a little but the issue was still there. My Dr. had me try different medication for anxiety but they all seemed to make things even worse. After doing my own research I found I may have something called BVD. I found this center and from there Dr. Matsuura determined vision therapy would help. I went in weekly for a year and things started getting better. their team had a game plan for me and they had me do at home exercises too. Now i’m very comfortable with driving again. Thanks to their help!

The staff works so well together and are so helpful when discussing concerns or asking questions. Everyone that works with my son has been so welcoming and supportive. Dr Hillier and Dr Jay are so insightful. My son is doing so much better since coming to see Dr Hillier.

San Diego Center for Vision gave my son the skills to overcome his challenges and to function as an adult without letting anyone know he had any challenges. When my husband was going to be deployed, Dr. Hillier worked on July 4th to write up the results of our son's testing and Dr. Hillier was the magic we were looking for. Not only did he know how to fix our sons vision challenges, Dr. Hillier was able to refer us to other experts. Our son went from being a good athlete to being a great athlete. And, the weekly exercises were changed up so they remained fun for our son.... and he did them without complaining.
