This was beautiful hike nestled in the hills of the Santa Cruz Mountains 🌲 the lake is a great spot to have a picnic on a sunny day. They do have one picnic table nearby and two benches facing the pond.

I took the Woodrat trail that starts behind the park office and loops around to the side of the park office. It has great views and signage along the way. There was one point before hitting the sunset trail that I got confused because there was no sign that said park office. Just keep following the path and rest assure that it does loop you back.

The parking is free. There are no dogs allowed on the trail. I didn’t see any restrooms. I did see some wild turkeys and people riding horses 🐎

Nice rural park. Attended a wedding there and it was a very nice sunny day. The park has a historical building with a museum of sorts about its history. Hikers must enjoy the surroundings.

My family worked with the park staff here to rent the park space for a wedding and we had a fantastic time. The park staff were friendly and helpful, and the space was beautiful. The ceremony was hosted on the front lawn and the reception took place under the massive oak tree in the front.

Tables and chairs were available on-site for attendees and dinner, supplemented with a few park benches. The park has a full on-site kitchen to assist with food prep. Trash/recycling was easy to manage with their receptacles and nearby parking lot bins.

We live this place!
It is so peaceful! The turkeys are out this morning strutting their stuff, too! We are on a lupin hunt today. They are just starting to bloom. Next week will be great!

really hot in the middle of summer, some nice trails but make sure you've got a hat or something as the sun can be intense and there's not a lot of cover.

Best park in Santa Cruz county. Lovely trails through varied habitats with wildflowers most months of the year, awesome birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. Terrific docent and volunteer program. County Parks rock. Not great for dogs. Great for picnics. Camps are awesome.

We had an amazing time going on the trails. It was a challenge to choose between looking where I was putting my feet and the amazing views around every bend. For reference, I'm in my 50's and over-weight, but we still did the climb all the way to the top of the mountain. It was an intense workout. I suggest bringing a walking stick and a partner.
