Beautiful place but the road is closed as of Mar27 (the last 4 miles to picnic spot) till April 30. Hope this information helps as it’s not found elsewhere. Drive n 360 view is amazing though.

The portal for the best hike in California. The portal consists of picnic tables, trailhead parking, store, bathrooms, small fishing pond , small restaurant, a great view and an occasional bear.

Great place to come up and reset. Sit and listen to the creeks and waterfall running. Also a great place to escape the heat. They have picnic benches and BBQs for day use.
