Hi! I want to give special kudos to Nurse Melissa & Patient Assistant, Cyrus, that took care of my elderly & blind Dad yesterday, 1/29/25, bed 140A. You were both awesome & gave him the best care & attention! I appreciate it!
And a special thanks to a pleasant roomy, Randy, in bed 140B, that politely listened to all of my Dad’s stories!πŸ’•

Emergency Room 2 staff could still use some improvement, but I’m still grateful!!
The hospital has improved tremendously since 2020.

Well we have been here in the ER since 6 am it is now 9 pm and we’re supposed to be admitted to a room hours ago. The nurse care was average. They told us the orthopedic doctor was going to see her as she has a fractured wrist that has been temporarily splinted, he never showed up today. Multiple doctors came in to give their opinion, nurses were confused as to what tests were ordered and given I had to tell them they were already done. The main nurse was asleep at her desk.. I will never come here again ! This is unacceptable and I am very surprised that now supposedly Being UCi that they are operating like this. I would not recommend coming here, thank goodness my mom has us to advocate for her.

I had a scheduled test in the Radiologist Dep't. on 2/5/25. I was greeted by a young man named Guy. He was very professional and friendly. He explained what the procedure would entail and about how long I would be there. Guy was kind and helped me to feel relaxed the entire time. I have had many medical issues in my life but never remember having a technician like Guy. UCI Health, you have an amazing employee. Please recognize him when it's time to do his review. Thank you.

Many people told me don’t go to Los Alamitos Emergency but I had no choice as an ambulance was taking me there from urgent care. When I arrived with severe pain on the left side of my back and my arm I was brought to a folding chair in the hallway to sit and wait. There was a hazardous waste basket next to me and on the other side a metal file cabinet I think. I had the Norovirus and was so dehydrated but nothing was offered to me. No IV no water no food. I had three procedures. An EKG, an x-ray, and a blood test. I had to sit there for hours and hours to wait for the results of these three procedures. I never left that folding chair. No one ever offered me food water nothing. Finally as it was starting to get dark I got up and went to one of the nurses I guess at the desk and said I can’t wait any longer I must go. She said we just need the results of the X-ray I said I’m sorry I’ll come back tomorrow I cannot go on any longer so I left. The next day early in the morning my daughter brought me back and I had to go through the complete re-entry. Pay another co-pay have the blood work done and sit and wait and wait and wait. Finally I was taken to I guess the emergency room and was told there’s your bed. It was just a bed no pillow no blanket no nothing. I asked so now what are we gonna do. The lady said a doctor will talk to you. Well yes the doctor did talk to me hours and hours later. No one offered me food no one offered me water no one offered me an IV I just had to scream out for a pillow and a blanket and what I was waiting for. Finally at the end of the day a doctor comes and tells me that my potassium is very low. He looks like he wants me to stay in the hospital but no I wanna go home where I can get much better care taking care of me. Whoever told me don’t go to Los Alamitos was right. What is the problem with Long Beach. Memorial Hospital was full and so was St. Mary’s so then you have to go where they have room for you but they don’t have room for you. I spent a lot of money on absolutely nothing but getting completely upset. I couldn’t believe this has happened. I actually made an appointment with my primary care just to let him know the experience I had with urgent care and with Los Alamitos hospital. God forbid if I ever really do get seriously sick. I don’t think I would survive it. God help all of a seniors.

I was recently in the ICU simply becay there there were no regular rooms available. I had intracranial bleeding which initially presented as a stroke. The care was good but I particularly was appreciative and even amused by the care of ICU nurse Alexandra Alvarez, who was as fun to be with as she was caring and compassionate. She made my stay as enjoyable as possible under the circumstances. I am grateful for her care.

Waited 7 and a half hours to have a cat scan received and blood work drawn, an hour of which was spent waiting for the paperwork to discharge me. Don’t get me wrong, I understand busier times at the hospital and god bless our medical staff on the front lines but when you have your team of front desk nursing staff that check people in talking about PTO and payroll gossip while you have a full ER waiting room to with sick, injured patients, it isn’t a good look. The lack of empathy when people walk up to that front desk is astounding and I would highly recommend visiting another hospital until this place gets their act together.

My mom is 90. Had a uti infection & memorial care said we needed to go to emergency for over antibiotics. They took her blood & urine sample. She waited over 6 hours never to see the doctor. Staff gave no answers or approximate time she could get the iv antibiotics. Very disappointing! Worst emergency hospital I ever visited. They took countless other customers before my mom. I just don’t understand? So very sad!!!!

My mom recently had to be sent to the ER via paramedics due to a plethora of issues happening at home. She had a wonderful ER team, the room was good and I was impressed with the caliber of the Nurses. She was finally admitted to a regular bed after a few days and overall her experience was very good. Nurses were excellent, and I really appreciated Dr. Badr going the extra mile with my mom. This is a dr who actually cares about his patients. She's had various trips to the hospital and I've learned to always talk to the Caseworker and Case Managers to get info. I want to give a shoutout to Elizabeth Gutierrez in the Case management department. She went TRULY above and beyond trying to get my mom situated and safely returned home while also making sure I was armed with info on Skilled Nursing Rehabs in case things went south. I cannot thank her enough for being super communicative the whole stay - She got everything done she said she would, and she even stopped by my mom's room to chat with her and get info, even to say hello to me (since we'd talked a few times to share discharge plans). This woman is amazing! She needs a raise!
