My husband aged 84.5 is handicapped and on a good day he might be able to slowly walk down our block. So we arranged a trip to the Big Five store approximately a mile away so he could purchase a pair of shoes. Our taxi ride arrived promptly at eleven thirty, and my husband spent an hour and a half trying on shoes. Then we called the agency to arrange a ride home about approx. 1:30. We waited until 2:30 and called again we were told a taxi would be coming soon. After waiting another hour we called again, and again we were told a taxi would arrive approximately in 15 minutes.
Finally couple of times more. We were shivering and cold and didn't know what to do. About 4:30 p.m. a good Samaritan offered us a ride. The rep who was suppose to clarify the situation seemed very confused about the geography and asked repeatedly what is the address of the Big 5. And repeatedly I told him it is 2515 E. El Segundo Blvd., El Segundo, CA 90245. As far as the rep could see--that was not a possible address. The rep seemed more interested in making a point rather than helping us. He told us about four times that a taxi would arrive in fifteen minutes. He even said a taxi did arrive but we were a "no show." We were on the front steps of the building. Perhaps we were remiss in not telling him that but perhaps he was remiss in not asking. Perhaps that taxi driver could have been given our cell phone number. There must be a better way. Yes I did lose my temper and the rep hung up on me.

This is by far the most customer friendly county agency I have had the pleasure of vising. Excellent customer services and genuine care for their constituents seems to be the norm around here. Their staff are very informative and follow up with you to ensure the ball was not dropped. I can honestly say that when I become a senior citizen, I will be glad that we have an agency that is vested in my well being. I will be writing to Congress to bid for increased funding for this wonderful agency.

Horrible: no one anything no one gets back to you and they basically treat seniors as bad if not worse than all other agencies that like to throw elders under the bus... This system needs people who are compassionate and kind to elders. Not a ton of under 30, somethings that could care less and hang up on everyone or and them to extenions w recorded messages
