Perfect experience! Staff was friendly and the horses have their very own personalities that make the trail riding a delightful time. Try to do it with clear skies to have the best viewing pleasure of San Jose. No riding experience necessary, the staff was professional and polite the whole way. Highly recommend if you are in the San Jose area!

Wow wow wow! So glad I found this place. I will definitely be coming back for either more trail rides maybe even lessons, it is a beautiful facility with lots of activity on a Sunday morning! Even still we did not have any trouble parking or finding our way around.

We signed up online for a morning trail ride and had Leila as our guide. She was awesome, very kind and patient. You can tell they care a lot about safety and clear communication with riders. One of our riders was scared at first, and they let the guide horse lead their horse until they were comfortable riding on their own. Really cool to see them fostering positive environments and feeling secure.

I was riding Ranger the palomino and my mother-in-law rode Torch the Appaloosa. BEAUTIFUL horses that were very responsive and easy to control. Amazing views of the mountains and bay on the trail as well.

If you’re thinking about signing up, do it!!

Absolute 5 stars for the trial riding experience and Joe the horse! He’s such a good boy throughout the entire ride, super calm and friendly. He really loves snacks 🙂 but listens to all the commands on the way. Hope he gets plenty of snacks after the ride!

First time coming here. Loved it very much. Went for a horseback ride. Trail ride The right is 1 hour. There is one tasting and charcuterie plates. Very big, beautiful horses. Awesome! Staff booking is required. Will come here again. Has the best time ever. It's been awhile since I've written a horse and this was one of my dreams to come ride a horse again recommend this for family and friends!!

I started coming to Garrod for trail rides as a teenager while taking lessons at a different local [now-closed] stables, and always loved the experience. As I got older I stopped riding, time and money both being at a premium for a young adult, but am so glad I came back to it last year. Fortunately Garrod is still as wonderful as it was in the fond memories of my youth!

I've been coming for weekly group Western lessons and fitting in weekend trail rides when my schedule permits, and both are great experiences. The staff and instructors are informed and passionate, and they're well in tune with the horses' needs, health, and individual personalities. A lot of the fun of becoming a regular again is seeing what horses they match me up with: every one brings something different to the experience, and if I'm riding a mount I don't know the staff can always give me some good information about what to expect and what works or doesn't work well.

As someone who can most kindly be described as 'indoorsy', the trail rides are my main form of connecting with nature. The farm and preserve are gorgeous, and the guides are friendly and knowledgeable. It's obviously a different experience moseying through the greenery vs doing patterns or cantering in the arena, but both have their place in my heart. In our fast-paced lives it can be easy to forget how lucky we are to have such natural beauty essentially right in our backyards, but a trail ride at Garrod is a great way to appreciate it.

Went here to celebrate sons b-day with their school friends. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They offer rides for kids as young as 5-6 and above. My 6 year old loved the horse ride. Very scenic place. Will definitely try again.

Visiting here from out of state. Decided to check out Cooper-Garrod Winery and Stables and so glad we did! We rode on Monday morning at 10 a.m. and what a perfect morning. My daughter and I had an amazing trail ride through the property and beyond. Our trail ride guide was impeccable. So passionate and informative. The wine tasting on the patio was also superb. Thank you and we will definately be back.

We had a GREAT experience here. It’s my first time leave a comment on Google because the instructors there were soooo kind and helpful. We booked a trail riding there. I went with my mom, she was not a English speaker and never rode a horse. She was also kinda afraid on her horse, one of the instructor tried to help her by telling what to do but she couldn’t understand, so she took my mom’s horse with her the entire ride. I was so impressed that she was amazingly patient the entire time and didn’t give up on her. The horses were generally well behaved, the trail was kinda hard the day we came because of the rain, I was worried at first but everything turned out fine. Also the views were amazing, my dad loved their wine there. Thank you guys so much for bring us such a great day.
