Tim was an extremely knowledgeable tour guide and patiently answered my numerous questions. This home was built in 1840 and is unique in that 99% of the furnishings are original to the house. It also addresses the unfortunate part of US history as there were enslaved persons who lived and worked here.

Ms Yeager delivered an exquisitely informative lesson on the life and times of this family. The history lesson was rich with detail from each member of the family and included tidbits of behind the scene activities. The house was in excellent condition and each room came alive from the deep and through explanation given as we marveled at the original furniture.

This is a great historical homesite in rural Alabama. If you're driving through town, a stop here and then lunch at Mustang oil across the street makes for a nice time. Doesn't take much time to get through the house, but it will give you an appreciation of antebellum life in Alabama and insight into the life of a brave and fearless American Navy leader.
