1849 Mountain Rentals at Mammoth's Canyon Lodge - Mammoth Lakes, California

When we arrived, our very outdated condo smelled like stale cigarette smoke, and the people staying next to us were clearly consuming cannabis products as the hallway wreaked of it. They also had a very loud dog that was barking constantly, but we were willing to let all of that go. We’re easygoing folks. We were also unable to use the pool or hot tub with our children because starting at 330pm until late, they were crammed full of 20-somethings blasting loud music and drinking. Again, all fine, we didn't complain, despite our kids being bummed.

What was disturbing was when the property manager showed up at our unit before check-out time and started yelling at my wife and small kids because we were running a few minutes late (this was at 9:30am, 30 mins before we had to be out). We had requested a late checkout earlier due to a snowstorm the night before that was setting us back and the fact that we were wrangling 6 kids under 7, but we were declined. Again, fine, we were only running a few mins late at this point and even offered to allow the cleaners to start while we finished packing our car. The manager was not interested in reasoning with us and had zero sympathy as he continued to send threatening messages. We had the kids out the door at 10:15 (15 mins late) and were on the road by 10:30, yet they charged us $100 and told us that if we left a bad review, they would have it removed. The whole interaction was quite disturbing and unsettling.

So be warned, the people that run this place care very little for their guests and could use a few lessons in customer service.

The only good thing about this place was the location but the facilities felt more like a college dormatory from the 80's than a place for families to enjoy.

Nice and close to the lifts, which is the main feature here. Generally nice, but older which comes with old issues. Good place though that only needs a make over to make it great.

Perfect family vacation for the Thanksgiving break great rooms and service. The snow was great too.

We had very pretty house with anything one could need. I don't have so much kitchen stuff at home as it was there. There was a fireplace, good shower and view. The bed in one of two rooms was uncomfortable though

Clean short term rental. Helpful front desk staff onsite. Accessible hot tub and pool. Less than 5 minute walk to Canyon Lodge. Furnishings and appliances are functional and in working order but otherwise somewhat outdated.

We really enjoyed our stay at 1849 Mountain Rentals, our favorite part was the location, it is right at Canyon Lodge and walking to the ski slopes takes less than 5 minutes. The condo was very nice, comfortable and well equipped. One BIG inconvenience we endured was, the heating was not turned on when we arrived, it was colder inside than it was outside. It took over 5 hours for the apartment to heat up to a comfortable temperature, my entire family went to bed fully clothed with jackets on top. If you are visiting in the winter call the office ahead of time to make sure they have turned on the heat.

Fantastic. I enjoyed my stay here very much. Would stay here again. I have zero complaints. The staff was very friendly. The condo was clean and had all the supplies we needed.

The best thing about this condo is its location across the street from Canyon Lodge - it doesn't get any better. Our unit was comfortable, although dated. Lots of firewood (and my son vowed to burn it all! 😊) I wished that the kitchen was better stocked - we had nothing ... not even salt and pepper. Plenty of pots and pans and bowls and dishes, just nothing else. We cook a lot on vacation, and we managed. Price is good compared to other places. Nice hot tubs.
