Very interesting place to visit. It is well put together and is funded by donations and worked by volunteers. We only had one hour but could have spent much more time there if you read everything at each exhibit.

Wow! What an informative gem! We spent WAY more time here than we planned on, but wete mesmerized with all the crazy cool gold mining information and old displays! From Native Tribes of the area, to the mining equipment and information(including letters from folks during that era) this place was amazing! The workers were sweet too! Loved the old doctor equipment displays and the judge and jury info from that era. (which was unfortunately very sad to think people of different races were treated the way they were)The way the displays were set up you could imagine yourself in an old kitchen during the goldmine era and even imagine what it was like to dress! This is a must stop! And it's big!!

Very compact collection from the old time. Storytelling style with letters to Charlie is interesting. Mariposa was huge before.

This is a well curated museum. Each exhibit is beautifully displayed by telling a story of the town's history.
This is a must stop and visit before you head to Yosemite.

A great museum. Staff was informative and great with our kid. There was a scavenger hunt which we completed. Lots of local history to learn. I was glad to see the section on Joaquin Murrietta and surprised to see a 6ft long 2 person chainsaw (I have my grandfather's from when he was a lumberjack). Would recommend.

This is the coolest museum I've been to in a while. I homeschool my son, and this served as a very educational experience for him - as we had been learning about the emigrants who traveled the Oregon Trail to the west coast.

This place was pretty cool, it’s only $5 a person on a weekend. There were a lot of cool exhibits and the history was amazing. It presents it more like a school project which makes it more interesting and fun to read. Check out the outside part too, there are several areas outside to view machinery that was used. As well as a forge and several houses-they were not currently open to the public but they were still amazing to see.
