Sylvia is an amazing tutor who challenged my son to grow as a reader. In a short time she boosted his ability. She identified key areas in advanced coding where he needed help and mitigated them. Out of many Marin tutors we tried (at least 5) - she was the best. Sylvia had the most clear insight into his habits, strengths and deficits that could be remediated. In a short time he got better. I highly recommend her. Worth every penny (and then some)! If we have tutoring needs in the future we will come back.

My daughter worked with Sylvia last year to prepare for her SAT test. Sylvia was very thorough and outlined detailed strategies to help my daughter navigate all aspects of the test. She scored well enough to gain acceptance to all but 1 of the schools to which she applied. The strategies have also proven effective in her college courses this year! Sylvia was very responsive during the sessions with my daughter and reported back to me after each meeting with detailed notes. Five years ago, I worked with Sylvia during 6th grade, and it had a profound impact on my academic journey. Sylvia has been an exceptional fit for my Son. She's an incredible high school math tutor for him as he tackles Algebra II and Geometry. She also has helped him prep for the SAT, providing insightful tips and strategies. Sylvia provides a detailed session summary via email after each tutoring session, making it easy for working parents to keep up with a student's progress and any "hotspots". Sylvia has incorporated Zoom sessions into her approach given the current Shelter in Place guidance in CA, which has worked seamlessly. My daughter had twelve hours of tutoring with Sylvia in preparation for the November 2017 SAT exam.

The tutoring sessions took place during an intense three-week period when my daughter was buried in homework and finishing multiple college applications that were due.

My daughter’s SAT score went up 110 points.

I am really grateful for the tutoring Sylvia provided. She worked diligently with my daughter on math and English, and provided her helpful strategies and drills for solving problems faster and more efficiently. Sylvia also emailed me after each session to report on my daughter’s progress and the goals for the next session. I found that very helpful.

I recommend Sylvia highly. I should also mention that I understand that Sylvia is tutoring via Zoom during shelter-in-place, and it is very effective.

Sylvia is fantastic with our 2 children; flexible, patient, and experienced.
We have been working with Sylvia awhile and now with all the kids at home, the sessions via Zoom are great. The kids say they get a lot more out of the sessions then their on-line sessions at school. And this whole Shelter-in-Place time is an excellent time for the kids to push ahead on their study skills and prepare for those upcoming exams.
Sylvia is tutoring our son in Algebra 2 as well as preparing him for the SAT. She is also preparing our daughter for the upcoming SSAT exam which our daughter will take in the fall. With fewer distractions, the kids can focus better, get the practice they need, and they are getting excellent results.
Sylvia has an amazing system for preparing the kids for the standardized tests. She knows exactly what to do and how to get the best results. She shows them the strategies they need which make the test both easier and faster. And what’s even better is that the student can use these strategies for their regular school courses also.
Our son had a C in Physics and he received an A on the last test. When the teacher asked him how he did this, our son replied that he used the strategies his SAT Tutor taught him. Great job!
It’s money well spent and a gift that will last for their entire career! You won’t regret it.

I had the pleasure of working with Sylvia to prepare for a standardized test to apply to nursing school last year. The strategies were immensely helpful and I scored significantly higher on the exam than on my initial practice exam that I took prior to working with Sylvia. Her strategies I use to this day in nursing school and are very valuable. I can not recommend Sylvia enough, what you learn from her can be translated to many different avenues. Also, it's key to note that this test had english composition, math, and science and she was able to help me in all areas.
