There is so much to explore in this garden. I never realized the variety of plants that can thrive in our local urban environment.

I pass this garden everyday and always wondered about it while on the freeway. I finally had the chance to go and it did not disappoint.

Yes, some things are not as accessible because they are renovating. There's also some areas that need a little more care. However, access to the garden is free and is largely maintained by volunteers. When I see the volume of work to be done, I am amazed at the amount of time and dedication that is lovingly given to this center.

Stop by and take a stroll through the gardens and smell the flowers. It does get hot and some of the areas are not even, so you may want to wear shoes and bring an umbrella. I forgot, but did just fine with my slippers and a piece of paper to shade my head. Just be aware of the visiting hours.

A great place to bring kids for a free walk through a nicely decorated garden. When we went there was a free scavenger hunt for the kids you can pick up when you sign in. Lots of kids were having fun running around checking off everything on their lists as we walked around.

Another hidden Gem, a beautiful garden where you can learn about plants and the tight way to care for them. I got a short tour of the herb and medicinal herb garden. I was also given seeds to start my own herbs from India. They ate part of the University of Hawaii. They are looking for volunteers if you want to get your hands dirty. Give them a visit

Found this place via Google search . After reading the rave reviews I decided to check it out. I have been in Hawaii for almost a week now and have visited numerous botanical gardens and still haven’t seen the “Flowers” I thought I would see here on the Island. Well I don’t know if they have flowers or not. They told me to leave …apparently they weren’t open to the public. (Or maybe just non Hawaiian public) Of course they were open to the “public” in the other reviews. All I wanted to do was look at and admire beautiful Hawaiian flowers ~ NOT pick them!! What I came away with was a BITTER taste in my mouth for HAWAIIAN people because the women there made it Very clear it was a government owned garden and I wasn’t welcome.~~~ BTW - they have a parking lot and a Bus drop off point.

This place is tucked behind the Public Storage and Home Depot in Pearl City. You have to go into the Public Storage parking lot and drive to the left of the Public storage to find the entrance. DON’T listen to Google maps because it took me NOT to the place. Lol.

I actually didn’t know that this place existed until someone wanted to meet here for a CL exchange. But I am so glad that we found it. They actually have plant sales the first or second Saturday of the month which is super cool.

We checked out the selection of plants and they had a decent amount of plants and they were cheap! Usually I buy my plants for about $2 each at Home Depot/Lowes but they were selling their smaller plants for $1 and the flower plants were like $4 when they are $10 or more at the major stores.

I’m so glad I found this place and would love to go back again for their plant sale!

This place is a great resource for all the home gardeners out there. They regularly hold classes on everything from grafting to sandcasting. They also have plant sales where you can buy plants for much cheaper than you can at the regular garden stores.

Great place to visit. Like any other place maintained by volunteers, there is never enough help. Gardens were unique and a great source of inspiration for any gardener.
