Great private instruction for practical self-defense! My wife and I are taking the two-hour martial arts classes. Buck is an expert instructor with years of experience - extremely knowledgeable, patient and personable. The hands on, one on one instruction is exactly what we were looking for. We haven’t tried the firearms training yet, but given the level of professionalism you can expect from Buck, we can certainly see doing that down the road.

I took the CCW course and was pleasantly surprised. Buck is an awesome instructor. He's knowledgeable and obviously cares about his craft. He was also very patient and encouraging as we went through various drills, which was greatly appreciated. One technique we covered was kinesthetic shooting and it blew my mind. Worth the price of admission alone. I would highly recommend them for anyone wanting instruction in firearms self defense.

I can’t say enough good things about Southeastern Defensive Training Center, Vanessa, Buck, and their Basic Defensive Concealed Carry course. As a mother with zero firearm experience, I hoped to find a course to teach me how to protect my family should the need ever arise, but this class went far beyond my hopes and expectations.

From my first phone call, Vanessa was available at all times (even on holidays and at night), patient with all my questions, informative, kind, and flexible with my hectic schedule.

Once in the class I was surprised to learn that Buck wasn’t just teaching me how to handle and shoot a firearm; he addressed multiple self-defense issues—the psychological, physiological, legal, and historical—including Stand Your Ground laws, assessing and identifying a threat, creating the space necessary to use a firearm, and what to expect after having to defend yourself. Buck was professional, incredibly knowledgeable, full of interesting facts and anecdotes, and hilariously fun while always respecting the seriousness of the issue.

I feel confident and proud having completed the course, and I look forward to practicing the techniques Buck taught me. (Gotta keep those mental hallways dust and cobweb free, right, Buck?! 😉

I highly recommend the course to anyone at any level. Buck is the real deal, and he and Vanessa make an awesome team!

My husband and I have both been carrying concealed for years and going to the range for target practice. This is the first time we have ever been taught how to use our weapons in a real life self defense situation. This class covers the law as it pertains to Stand Your Ground in Alabama and what happens after a self defense situation has occurred, including how to deal with the police in this type of situation. Buck was very thorough and extremely safety conscious. If you want a real life practical class that teaches you how to safely and effectively use your weapon, this is it! We will be attending additional classes with Buck to help us improve our self defense skills!

I recently attended the Defensive Firearms course. Buck is a extremely knowledgeable instructor that will have even a beginner handgun user like myself comfortable and deadly efficient by the end of the 1 day course. You will spend a large amount of time inside learning you’re rights and the laws for the state of Alabama. Also, you will train thoroughly inside with a Laser only, non firing Glock replica hand gun. The course utilizes a computer software program that registers your hits on targets via laser. You will be confident in your abilities to respond to an attacker as well as have the confidence to handle your firearm before you go outside to the range. Once on the range Buck will walk you through different scenarios. He will be observing your technique and offering advice to make sure when the course is complete you are 100% confident in your ability to quickly and accurately take out any would be attacker. I highly recommend anyone needing a self defense course to give Southeastern Defensive Training Center a call. I now plan on taking the unarmed defense and edge defense courses. Give them a call you won’t be disappointed.

I recently moved to Florida and needed to renew my concealed carry permit. I have had this permit in 3 different states over the past 12 years. Florida would not accept my current ccw as a competent gun safety course, and me not being able to find my certificate from my other classes I was forced to take a basic pistol training class to satisfy Florida's requirements. A quick Google search lead me to Buck's class. He was very accommodating. I called on Wednesday afternoon, and was able to schedule a class for the next day, Thursday morning. Upon arrival to his facility, I explained the reason why I needed to take his class. After about a 10 min conversation he decided I would not benefit in any way from a basic pistol class and he decided to spend the next 4 hours teaching me a more advanced self defense pistol class. Buck is very knowledgeable and personable in his teachings. I came there thinking I was gonna spend the next 4 hrs in a waste for basic pistol training that I've already had several times over the years. But ended up learning so much more in his training class. I walked away with more strategy and techniques then I ever even thought I would learn. I plan on expanding my skills with Buck again in the future. Thanks again for all the help.

Buck Terry is very knowledgeable! He is VERY serious about safety, but made it fun at the same time. He was patient with all my questions, but please don't ask questions if your gun is not holstered! Not even the laser gun! ? As it should be. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to understand the responsibilities and use of armed self-defense. He teaches unarmed which I'm planning to attend.
