Heard about this in grad school 20 years ago. Finally was passing by on a truck trip to California. Easy in. The numbers are worn off the code punch, so 1 is at the top. It’s a funny system for security, but I guess it works most of the time for the lazy vandal. Anyway, I didn’t have much time to read everything, but I find these industrial uses of land fascinating and it is worth the reading. Also found out what some facilities were that I had photographed just of I80 so that was great. Hope to come through to spend more time exploring CLUI and the area. More there than meets the eye!

Fascinating museum like none other. It's very lowkey and nearly unmarked. You call a phone number to get a code to get inside an unheated old army barrack that's full of incredible information and a well designed exhibit on the surrounding desert's widely varied uses.
