A tremendous piece of historical kitsch, Will originally advertised (and pointed at) the first casino on the Nevada side of the state line. When new owners took over what is now the Nugget casino, they decided he should belong to the town, and he was moved a mile or so west to his current location.

He now points at a vacant lot.

For the best view, see him at sunset.

So the statue, for what it is, is fine. It's a weird giant cowboy outlined in neon. If you like weird random stuff along these lines, this will tickle your fancy. Gas right nearby was very reasonably priced.

This statue is often referred to as the world's largest mechanical cowboy statue. This is not true. It has zero mechanical parts, just some lights. After driving 700 miles, I had promised my long suffering family a mechanical cowboy statue. For a mechanical cowboy statue this gets 0 out of 5 stars. The word fraud was thrown around.

Parking to the North near information plaques about the California trail. The base of the statue is accessible from some crosswalks on either side of the road. Cool quick stop that we did to get a family photo. Probably the coolest thing to see in the small town of wendover.

We went to Wendover over the weekend and saw the cowboy sign during the daylight and at night. The sign is very cool, especially at night. The cowboy has two sides, but some of the lights on the other side are broken. Hopefully, the city will fix them soon.

If you’re ever in West Wendover a visit to see Will is a must. There is a very informative plaque on the east side of the plinth that gives you a great history of Will.

Honestly, we read the negative reviews, laughed, and continued on to see this thing. It's awful. Not worth your time, literally a piece of cardboard - maybe foam - painted by a middle school art class. Art can be anything I guess?
