My twins are freshman going into sophomore year. One has autism other has anxiety disorder. Graphics design major for both. This school has been incredible in making my kids education priority while making sure their disabilities are handled well. My kids work hard and have their social challenges but seem to be thriving. No bullying has happened which I'm grateful for.

I really enjoyed my education at SECTA, you have a great variety of electives to choose from compared to other schools and staff that really care about their students.

The english teacher was so rude and so nosy. She once shot me in the leg with a shotgun. She once locked me in a rubber room, a rubber room with rats. Rats made me crazy. Crazy? I was crazy once. I often have traumatic breakdowns in the middle of the night because of her. I’ve been diagnosed with PTSD, Anxiety, Schizophrenia, BPD, Depression, and many more. This english teacher has ruined my life. My bathroom is now basically a pharmacy with the amount of medication. I have to take to treat all my disorders. Ms. Haegele. This is all because of you.

For all incoming freshmen reading this post, and hopefully you are, I implore you not to choose ANY of the medical majors. Freshmen year is fine, but sophomore and above can only be described as hell. Don't even think of getting a good night's rest when you have a medical major, ESPECIALLY IN YOUR JUNIOR YEAR. Choose cautiously... other than that this school is pretty cool

I used to be a student. Spent 3 of my 4 high school years there. This year I'm a senior and I'm reflecting on my old school. I loved almost all my teachers and administration but there where those who showed me that this is not the school for me. This school says they take bullying seriously but by my own experience, they bring the bully in and talk to them and call it good. Especially if they are a child of the school board. No discipline was taken into ensuring the harassment would stop! I was forced to pretend to be friends with this bully due to the school rules or else I was considered a bully if I told her no or leave me alone. And they where willing to suspend me if I got reported a 2ND TIME!!! if you are worried about your child getting bullied, don't send them here. Favoritism is this schools are pride and joy! They don't enforce dress code unless its on a student they don't like! And at times the dress code isn't even being broken! They just think it is!! They also will dress code you for spirit day!
Or for a class project. This dress code has to do with makeup! I wore a cheetah HAND PAINTED BY MY EYELINER ON THE SIDES OF MY FACE and they threatened to suspend me on grounds of they couldn't recognize me! Even though the administer who told me this called out my name before saying this. The students can be nice or they can be downright awful. You can't stand up for yourself without risking expulsion! Other than this. The teachers are wonderful! Only had one teacher out of my 3 years that I believed could not teach to save their life. The after school activities are more towards the nerdy people (anime club, game club, etc.) and I know 1 assistant principle who was a great friend when times are rough

I've been at SECTA for the past 2 years and there are many good and bad things about it. I love how the school has a very quiet and laid-back atmosphere. There is rarely any kind of altercations other then the "he said" "she said" stuff that is common in high school. The students are very nice, you can easily find a group of people that you can get along with and will create great memories with. Everyone there has one goal in mind: success. They are all exceptionally smart in some or all of their classes so it is very easy to find someone that can help you out if you're struggling. The #1 thing I hate about SECTA is the fact that over half of your classes are in rundown portables that have broken air conditioners and projectors. The only nice building (the one that is only pictured on here) has the Health Occupations majors, Algebra I, Geometry, Health Education, College Prep., one Algebra II class, and the library so most students don't have any classes in there (usually I had 1 to 2 classes in that building). All of the core classes like English and Social Studies are stuck in these cramped portables that even the teachers hate. It seems like a trailer park. The school only cares about sports because it's the only CTA that provides any kind of sport (except football) and they put their time and effort into it and not the awful class environment. The school isn't always clean. The only clean places are the D-Building (the nice one) and The Commons. My other concern is the bullying. The school rarely has any of it but when there happens to be an incident the school is clueless. They make it seem like they have zero tolerance of bullying when really they don't. A friend of mine was being harassed by a boy to the point where he tried to beat her up and threatened to kill her but when her family went to the school they gave my friend detention and threatened to suspend her and didn't give the boy ANYTHING. The school is corrupted by the idea that it's "the best school" and nothing could go wrong, but guess what it does. The teachers and facilities are more corrupt than politicians. They only care about test scores and never pay attention to the students' needs. There are a select few of teachers that genuinely care but the other teachers isolate those good few and make them seem as though they are awful (this has actually led to an incredible English teacher to quit). The school has an awful grading system that makes homework completely worthless but you still have to do it if you don't want to fail. I wish the school focused on finding the best learning methods for students and not just what they think is "good".
All in all there are some things that the school needs to fix but other than that it is a great school.

When I first heard of this school I was excited at the prospect of a new beginning; of trying something new. When I attended however I was gradually and extremely disappointed with what I had been left with. The school is constantly switching out teachers who don't care about your wellness or academic success and replacing them with others who don't care either. The major I applied for which was 3D Animation/Game Design didn't even have a teacher for about four months in my sophomore year. The administration like in many schools will do anything to protect their image and if you've been bullied or attempt to report a problem they will either ignore your claim or do heck all to solve it. The clubs are bad and there isn't much to choose from and most of the school is made up of portables at the time I am writing this. However, if you support or are a part of the LGBTQ+ community then I would advice you join pride club as you will make friends with campus security officer, Ms. Liz and she'll treat you better than everyone else when it comes to dress code and the like. Now that I'm in my senior year we are expected to produce entry level work that of which a professional gaming company would accept with absolutely no instruction on how to polish/complete any of the work that we should have been taught how to do in the first place. The students who are in turn trapped in their major and cannot change unless they want to go back to their zoned school are completely unmotivated and excruciatingly negative. No one here is interested in helping or thinking about anyone other than themselves and are completely comfortable with mediocrity. Everyone's unoriginal, uninspired, and most people will talk about you behind your back one minute and act like they like you the next. I've never met people so discouraging, rude and straight up emotionally empty and unavailable in my life and it's turned me into a miserable person. If you can PLEASE avoid this school. You will NOT learn tools or skills here that you can keep with you when you graduate and new students cannot transfer in so you will be stuck with the same ugly, wretched kids and teachers (unless they leave) for the next four years and you CAN"T escape them.

What a joke. I'm a senior this year and very quickly realizing that not only has this school failed to prepare me for college, but has also completely destroyed my mental health. The teachers and administrators preach about preparedness and advise us towards college credit classes, but in my case, the credit's I've earned for college won't even transfer to the college of my choice.
My home school would have been better. I would have graduated a year early and with more college credit that ACTUALLY TRANSFERS. Most kids go in curious about their major and considering it to be a career option, but when you realize it's not for you, you can't change anything. A subject that I hate with a teacher that's so biased that he literally divided us into a "bad" class and a "good" class is ruining my prospects at a 16k scholarship that could substantially improve my living standards in college just because he feels I don't try hard enough.
Not only are the teachers a joke, but the student body is extreme. The kid next to you is either extremely sweet and helpful or a total dick for no reason. I tried to address a bully with admin at the end of my junior year and had full proof (witnesses, text conversations, etc.) and admin asked if I wanted to call him in and talk. I can't jokingly call my friend a douchebag without getting in trouble, but I have someone specifically threaten violence against me and they ignore it.
The campus is disgusting. The grass on the field is half-dead and most of the time we're not even allowed on it unless we're in PE or a sport. You're restricted to a tiny area in the middle of campus to eat where not enough seats are provided for every student. It's brutally hot outside and the overflow of students are forced to sit there, and refused access to hallways and classrooms during lunch periods. Not that there are many hallways to hang out in anyways, considering most of the school is housed in portables.
The one thing that SE tech tries to boast over other CTE schools is that they offer sports, but from my personal experience, most people on the teams are rude, stuck-up, and unbearable. The volleyball team, for example, holds a collective holier-than-thou attitude despite losing almost every game. I'm suprised I didn't play for my home school sooner.
When I look back on all of high school and realize how bias, rude, and unprofessional the staff has been, as well as how horrible some students have been as well, it's no wonder why I'm so chronically depressed.
