There are a lot of trails on this part of the mountain so it helps to use an app to keep you on track. The last mile or so is where it gets difficult and steep with some scrambling. However, the views at the end were fantastic!

Loved it! Worth the effort. Climbing to the top of this peak is a great metaphor of challenges. It's never really easy, but at you get closer to the summit it becomes more difficult as in life. Once you're on the top though, happiness and pride in a job well done. I smiled the whole way down. Take water.

This is the best half day hike in the Vegas area. Please stay on the trail; uphill has the right of way; and don’t make rock sculptures. Preserve this beautiful place.

The trail starts in Anthem on a paved path through the back of a senior community before crossing the edge of a reservoir and becoming a single track route for roughly 3.5 miles to the highest point in the McCullough Range.

The front side trail has steady switchbacks and climbs easily for 2/3’s of the way. The final 1/3 has some steep sections where hands can be helpful, though scrambling is not strictly required.

There no shade to speak of, and on a gorgeous weekend day, you will find this trailhead full of cars, so plan accordingly.

I have hiked Black Mountain three times different throughout different years. The trail starts off pretty easy but gradually gets steeper. It’s a tough hike but is well worth it as you get higher up. You get amazing views of Henderson and into Las Vegas! You can also see all around you for miles! There is beautiful scenery all throughout the trail. When you summit the mountain there is a box with a notepad and a pen or pencil and you can write about your journey and your name(s). You can find some cool wildlife on the way up most commonly lizards, geckos, and rabbits. This mountain is a great place for photos. I highly recommend to bring lots of water and snacks and a portable charger for your phone. Don’t hike on hot days. I got very lucky during the snow storm of 2019 to hike the mountain. It was very hard but fun and a treasure! Overall this hike is incredible and rewarding!

Beautiful and hard hike with amazing views of Las Vegas and Lake Mead to the East. The trail is about 8 miles out and back depending on where you start in the neighborhood. You can make a great loop by heading north off of Black Mountain and coming down the North ridge, but be prepared for some route finding as it's not well marked. At the top you'll find a trail registry and a flag. The last 0.25 mile of the trail is very steep and you'll be climbing over boulders, but the rest of the trail is well marked and not too steep. Make sure you get an early start as there's no shade or water on the trail.

Good hiking, but no cloud cover so recommend going first thing in the morning
