Sylvan has been excellent for our son over the last few school years as he has been taking on the challenge of advancing his academic learning through a learning disability, anxiety, etc.
While we've never been to the physical Sylvan location, the virtual sessions have been easy to log into. The instructors are always prepared and on time, and they've been great about adjusting the way our son learns to ensure that he's engaged and continuing to make progress.
Quick shout outs specifically to two wonderful women we have had the pleasure of working with during our time with Sylvan thus far -- Paula, who coordinates all the virtual sessions, helps if we ever run into a technical glitch on our end, and somehow seems to always do everything with a smile! And Yvette who has always been amazing about keeping us informed on what the goals are in our son's learning plan, where he is currently, and what the steps look like moving forward, along with just being an incredible person to talk "parent to parent" with!
If you're thinking of getting your child some extra help, I urge to give Sylvan a try -- you won't be disappointed!

Sylvan has been amazing! My daughter is in the 1st grade and was having trouble reading even with reading support from school. She absolutely loves going to the learning center and cannot stop talking about the teachers. I saw improvement in her writing and reading almost immediately. The program is very structured and the follow up meetings are thorough and informative. Even though my child is learning she doesn’t even know it, she is just having fun and earning tokens. They provide a fun, exciting, and positive space to children to learn and grow.

Sylvan Learning Center I’m Salem has truly been a breathe of fresh air. From the process of having my daughter become a student to her now going to tutoring sessions have been such a great experience. Every admin and teacher that I have come in contact with has been nothing but professional and such a pleasure to work with. They do an exceptional job hiring the staff and making sure that they have high skills in working well with children in all different learning circumstances. My daughter has told me how comfortable she is with the location and staff. She feels heard and understood. And I can see that what she says is true because of the progress she is making in such a small period of time. Thank you Sylvan !!

My daughter has been going to sylvan since sixth grade and is currently in tenth grade. Math has always been a struggle for my daughter but after joining the sylvan community, I can definitely see the has become a better student at math. I would like to thank the teachers for helping her through this struggle and especially Mrs. Kristen as she has always been there for her and I always enjoy the meetings we have as we enjoy talking about many different subjects beyond my daughter's progress. Sylvan is definitely the place to be if your child is struggling with math or english as you will see a tremendous change!!

My daughter started at the Salem Sylvan a little over a year ago extremely behind and frustrated with school. She struggled with reading and math, they assessed her and came up with a plan. The staff encouraged her and worked with her 3 days a week, she never got bored and for the most part enjoyed going (no 9 year old would ALWAYS want to do extra school work🤣) She has now happily graduated from their personalized tutoring and is doing great in school. I give them a 10 out of 10 and would do it again if given the choice. Highly recommend them, we are so grateful for Ms Kristen and all the teachers there!!!!

I used to got to Sylvan when I was a child around 5-6 years old. However, just about 1 year ago, I returned to Sylvan again. The environment of this learning center is compact with positivity. I have obtained so much knowledge at Sylvan while doing the reading and writing program. Not only did it enhance my reading and writing skills, it has also helped me in school. My grades at school have only been getting better and better. I started Sylvan at the start of my sophmore year in high school and my final grades are visibly better than my freshman year‘s grades. The staff and instructors at Sylvan are not only nice, but positive and caring. One instructor that I want to point out is Ms. Cortney. To be fully honest, I truly wished all my teachers at school were like Ms. Cortney. Although sometimes I get answers wrong while doing reading and writing activities, Ms. Cortney would look at my wrong answers and make me fully understand my mistakes. Ms. Cortney is the main reason why I have such an amazing experience at Sylvan. I am very happy to return back to Sylvan to do the reading and writing program once again. 🙂

My son struggled at the start of this school year as he entered 7th grade. I looked for options at private tutoring on the web and came across Sylvan in Salem, NH. I reached out to inquire about programs and options and they were quick to respond and setup an evaluation. I went in thinking his struggle was with math but after the assessment they advised me that his reading skills were behind and that was impacting his ability to solve math problems. They created a customized learning plan and allowed me to pay for half of the recommended lessons to evaluate whether it was making a difference. After one month I noticed a significant change in his performance and paid for the remainder of the lessons. The environment is very friendly and they reward students with tokens that allow them to buy toys in their local gift store. My son has never complained about going for the lessons or complained about the lessons themselves which is.a testament to the fantastic job that they do at the Salem Sylvan Learning Center. My son made the honor roll after his first trimester and has continued to maintain his performance. He recently completed his 7th grade lessons at Sylvan and is now moving on to enrichment learning at the 8th grade level. I can not credit his success enough to the wonderful experience and professional training that Sylvan of Salem, NH provides.

Shannon, Kristen and all the staff at Sylvan gave my son the gift of knowledge and good study habits. Those two gifts have forever changed how my son views his academics. I could not say any kinder words to those who have helped paved the way for my sons future. Sometimes as a parent we need to understand that our will child(ren) benefit from tutoring with others than with us. Once my wife and I realized that our son needed formal tutoring, I am glad we went with Sylvan.
