We've volunteered here a couple of times. The work is seated and climate controlled. They need people to inspect the books that have been donated, wipe them down, remove any names or stickers, and put them in different stacks. Their internal staff does all of the heavy lifting. Education is the best way to get kids out of bad situations, and this is a good way to contribute to feeding their little sponge brains.

What a fun day cleaning books for kids! Our local work group, Southern Nevada CCIM, along with our office, NAI Excel, volunteered this afternoon. Our group (along with several volunteers from 3pm-5pm) cleaned 5,000 books! Spread the Word helps students with the gift of reading by providing much needed books at no cost to the readers and their families. The non-profit is always looking for gently used books, so if you have any to donate, please do. All ages are accepted because they have programs for other family members, too.

I just learned of this organization when I attended one of their event. I recommend this, being a book worm, I know I can donate here instead of Goodwill, as this actually helps the community and put my preloved books to the hands of youths and educators

This is a review for the experience I had with Spread the Word when they would visit the elementary school my kids went to. They would come in and let the kids grab a book off the tables and afterwards would read a book to the students. I love the idea of what they do and because of this I recently donated a large tub of books and the gentleman that was in the receiving area was very nice and seemed to be pretty happy about the donation.

This is a wonderful resource for teachers! They donate books to teachers that are willing to go there after work, and dig through big boxes for what they want. They have all age groups of books, teacher's books, and picture books. They're all free and you can take several bags. You must call and let them know you'll be there after work. They're open Mondays and Wednesdays.

It has been my pleasure volunteering with this organization. The focus is on making sure children have the ways and means to develop their reading skills. I would encourage anyone that enjoys reading and helping out children who might otherwise be overlooked to consider volunteering with Spread the Word Nevada any capacity.
