I Have visited this Collin College Dental Hygine Clinic today and it was a tremendous experience starting from the front desk checkin folks(Laura and Jennifer), my student dentist TAYLOR PARKS (was just awesome) and her Instructor followed by Doctor. They all reviewed my case, one after another and extremely fantastic center of excellence this team and the staff. Will definitely recommend anyone to visit here. Keep the good work going team!! A BIG BIG APPLAUD👏👏👏

Update 1/4/2025 - Adding few more points after my treatment done by the fantastic person/student, I would say Dentist MALIA… Did a great job, so polite, supportive, responsive never the less at the best I would say! Thank you very much Malia for your kind support and all the vert BEST for your future endeavors👏👏👏

The lady at the front desk for the Welcome Center was disrespectful and inconsiderate of my time. I called in advance to see if I can speak to an advisor and the very nice lady over the phone told me I could come in even if I wasn’t a student just to discus my different options. ( I wouldn’t go for no reason) The front desk lady just didn’t care what I had to say and basically stated if I’m not a student there is no help no time for you. I was completely okay with waiting even if it took hours because I know how busy they are at the start of the year. In addition she decided to take a phone call in the middle of our conversation and I stood there waiting while other people were getting helped. What’s the point of going to this college to apply if they are not even friendly to their future students.

I assume most people go to college to find a good job. If so, then you would expect the place that offers the training to train and prepare you for said job. It's not exactly like that at Collin College.

I speak for the IT department mostly, which is at the Frisco campus. The McKinney campus however, has done a decent job when it came to general education classes i.e. Math, English, History. It helps that the campus offers tutoring for GenEd classes in designated rooms such as the math lab or the writing center. Unfortunately, there is no tutoring for IT classes. Some electives are considered by many as "free credits" but if you are serious about your education, it is possible to actually learn something from these electives if you do the work and engage the instructors.

Now, for the IT classes...you might as well teach yourself. This is essentially what you're doing anyway at Collin College, ESPECIALLY if your classes are 100% online. My experience has been that a professor assigns a textbook and has the textbook do all of the teaching, which might make you ask "why do I need to pay for a class or professor to learn this?" If you choose to do an IT program at Collin College, I highly recommend learning as much as you can about the subject BEFORE taking a class. You will be doing that anyway during the class except if you learn what you can before taking a class, you wont be rushed and you wont risk losing out on tuition money. I don't believe I'm too far off by saying that the class is to test you only and not to teach you.

Overall, I would recommend Collin College as a stepping stone to a university BUT be prepared to fly solo most of the time. If you are able to find assistance from the faculty, consider yourself lucky. If anything, this college is a trial to test your self-reliance.

Admissions is very painful, with them collecting very sensitive information that has nothing to do with attending school. They asked for 12 months of the my bank statements, bills, and pay stubs because they thought I was trying to steal tens of dollars from Collin County. Unless you are my mortgage lender there is no reason for that information.
Admissions couldn't care less about getting you into classes, the veterans office ignored my concerns. Despite applying to the school in March, admissions wasn't complete with my application by September forcing me to drop all of my classes this semester.
THEY DO NOT CARE ONE SINGLE BIT ABOUT THE STUDENTS!!!

Like a Cattle Operation

Collin only cares about enrollment levels and numbers, they have zero concern for the students or how faculty and staff's mistakes affect student's future.

Took a class in 2015 and finished with a B. When I went in to register for graduation was told that when grade records were transferred from paper to computer one of my grades was lost/not recorded. This essentially dropped my final grade in this class from a B to a zero which SIGNIFICANTLY lowered my GPA which will affect my ability to apply to other schools or even programs within this institution. I was told this happened in 2016 after I had received notification of my final grade (Fall 2015) and as far as I knew it would be recorded appropriately. I have been told I had only one year to appeal even though I received no notice of any deficiency or notice to ensure records were correctly logged or transferred.

Many other issues throughout my time here with the Advising Department who enrolled me in a Biology course which did not satisfy requirements of my chosen major. I completed this course and was not advised that it did not satisfy requirements until the following semester. I was also required to see Advising each semester to have my account unlocked in order to register for classes and no one could ever explain why as I was not on academic probation or subject to any other circumstance which would seem relevant to such a requirement. Several semesters I came in to Advising to have the account unlocked, waited hours to be seen and ultimately the "unlocking" did not go through which necessitated a return trip to waste in Advising.

If you are considering Collin, you should look into literally ANYWHERE ELSE.

I met some of the greatest people who also ended up transferring with me here. Very diverse group of students.
Got all my basic classes done here and transferred with minimal problems - Remember to check with the uni you're transferring to since not all unis are the same. Beware that since it's a community college, they tend to teach broadly and a lot of subjects instead of a few subjects in deep at a uni, so if transferring, you'll need to pick out which subjects are relevant.
It's a hit or miss with professors: some are nice and helpful, others are just plain awful. Don't hold back on end of the semester reviews, those count and can make a difference.

I'm having worst experience applying for this college. They request so much information... repeatedly. It's ridiculous. Worst application process ever and my tuition amount is still wrong!!! They are now requesting 12 months proof of employment along with a lengthy form. This is crazy. The admissions rep was very nice explaining how to complete the form yet, I'm upset because my address is in the county and has been for 10+ years. Now they want 12 check stubs or bank statements with direct deposit info. NO other college has EVER requested this. Who are these people and why do they need this I don't feel comfortable giving them this info. I've already given them so much info that I've never had to submit to any other college. I already provided my tax statement which includes my TX address. I've been trying to enroll for quite some time therefore they have at least 2 years of tax docs that should verify residency... This is absurd!!!

The registrar's office is absolutely terrible, they have zero communication skills. Good luck to you if you want to take classes here because you will find yourself constantly chasing after them. Every time I try there's always something wrong. I tried registering for the weekend college and was not told about the deadline to send in some paperwork so I was unable to. I tried registering for summer and was not told I needed to reapply. I was told I did not need to send my transcripts because they already have them yet there is a hold on my account for transcripts. I had similar issues last year and the year before when trying to take classes. It's absolutely exhausting. Now the classes that I wanted are full and two weeks later I still can't register. I have registered for classes at multiple universities and have never had nearly as much trouble as I do at Collin.
