Just completed my helicopter add on rating with Lone Star Helicopters. With 17,000+ hours, 52 years of flying and multiple category, class and type ratings I can honestly say I've never had a better training experience than I did with Steve at Lone Star Helicopters. Steve provided the perfect personal training program tailored to my schedule. A true professional. If you are considering any type of helicopter training, do yourself a favor and give Steve a try. We thought we knew Austin after 20 years, but Steve's expert guided tour took us to remarkable places we'd never seen and to familiar places from stunning new perspectives. Highly recommended for Austin lovers, newcomers, folks considering relocation, and anyone looking for a great time! (Hint: this tour makes a great surprise birthday present!)

I recently had my first introductory flight in the S300CBi with Steve from LoneStar Helicopters. I hadn't flown in over 20 years (I have a PPL, SEL), but Steve's teaching method and presence in the cockpit had me feeling comfortable and "in safe hands" in no time. A good deal of that was his use of checklists and clear communication of what he was doing and why.

In the interest of getting to know the team, I had a demo flight this weekend with another of his instructors, Jesse. It was another amazing flight with another top-notch, safety-conscious instructor.

If you're looking at getting your private, add-on, turbine transition, etc. in a helicopter, then I highly recommend giving Lone Star Helicopters a try!

Just flew down from Utah to Lone Star Helicopter to do some Bell training in the Long Ranger with Steven! I have to say, it was the best experience I have ever had with any instructor/business, Steven was very professional, fun, and most importantly one of the best pilots I have flown with! I am an owner of a helicopter flight school, and I gotta say, trust me, if you live in Texas look no further. Last thing I’ll say is, I don’t ever leave reviews, but my experience made me feel, determined to leave a review, so there ya go 🙂 *****

My experience with Lonestar is great!. Steve is a great pilot and helicopter instructor. Calm , experienced, skilled and knowledgeable.
I have been refining my autorotation skills and emergency procedures with Steven, a lot of new knowledge and skills learned.
If you’re an already rated helicopter pilot, keep learning and current specially in emergency procedures; Lonestar helicopter is the place to do this here in the Austin area.
