Over the past few years, my son has asked to try multiple activities but nothing has kept his interest for more than a couple of months. That is, until he started attending classes at Vanguard Martial Arts (fka Roanoke ATA) in October 2024. He LOVES it! All of the instructors are wonderful - knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. Benchmarks set throughout the belt testing cycles have kept my kiddo motivated to learn more. I also appreciate the key concepts beyond just kicks and punches, specifically self defense, respect and leadership. I definitely recommend Vanguard Martial Arts Roanoke to anyone!

Fantastic martial arts gym! My son struggled with attention and focus for years, and the instructors at this gym were so helpful, understanding and constructive, my son loves going. His attention and focus have improved drastically and we are now going to competitions through the encouragement and support of their amazing group of instructors.

Top-notch martial arts school. All of the instructors and staff are the greatest! You’re taught by multiple State, District, and World champions. Senior Master Morrison (7th degree black belt) is one of the best there is in this organization and we’re proud to call Roanoke ATA home. You get that feeling of family here and your kids learn discipline, respect, self-defense, life skills, and so much more including a good workout in every class.

My son has been attending since September. He really enjoys the classes, its one of the first activities he's really shown interest in and that's largely due to Master Morrison and the instructors. In addition to class they have fun events and you quickly can be a part of the community.
