Wonderful school. Our children’s last school had a lot of kids with behavioral issues and it was really frustrating to them. Nothing was being done within the classrooms and it was causing issues with their mood and performance. At HCA it’s a totoally different story. Our kids LOVE it here. The teachers are so incredibly caring, proactive, and knowledgeable. They keep in close contact with the parents and encourage parents to be involved with the school. They encourage kids to be respectful of everyone while still keeping a Christ centered environment. We are so glad we switched schools.

Our experience was horrible at this school. Allow me to start by saying this school was far from a "christian" experience for our family. The school is riddled with drama from the teachers gossiping about students, teachers attempting to dethroan the leadership However, in the middle the children and parents are made to suffer due to the power struggle. Best thing I ever did was leave this school. Our family is so much better off now that we are attending Dallas Christian which is in every way what a "christian" school should be. My only regret was that my son had to undergo this school for an entire year.

World's greatest school!! My student loves to go to school now that she has enrolled in the school last year. She loves the teachers and the ability to learn in so many different ways. We recommend this school to everyone we know so that their children can experience the love and the excitement of learning in a different way than public school is allowed.

My child went to HCA for nearly three years. The first two years were great, I felt like we had found a school that we could stay in for the rest of my child's school career.
Unfortunately the headmaster Dr. Taylor retired last year and 2016-2017 school year started a new shift at HCA. The headmaster they replaced him with may very well be good but we wouldn't know it because he is practically invisible. Dr. Taylor was a presence constantly, he greeted you in the morning and afternoon. He knew who's children belonged to which families and he was involved in everything the way you would want to see leadership involved.

This year was the worst in the 6 years my child has been in school. Mrs. Minter is a joke (I've known that for 3 years though). She can't handle conflict so she ignores anyone or any situation that is uncomfortable for her which is common but if you are headmistress over elementary you have no choice but to address issues. She waited till things were so out of control regardless of my constant request for meetings and help. The 4th grade teacher Mrs. Morris was a complete bully she started trying to bully my child and when I got involved and made it clear I wouldn't tolerate it she started looking for everything possible to pick at him for (including if he took to long going to the bathroom). My child is high functioning autistic and sometimes takes longer performing tasks due to processing and she took advantage of that to call him out in front of his classmates on a regular basis to embarrass him and demean him.
The other 4th grade teacher went along with it and never stepped in to remedy things which is just as bad.
Private schools are everywhere and yes while HCA is cheaper than most it isn't worth saving the extra $ to put up with the terrible treatment. We will gladly take our money to a better run private school where they practice the Christian values they teach.

Beyond blessed to be a part of Heritage. My children love their teachers and the friends they have made. Such a rich learning environment with teachers that care about your children and love on them like they are their own.

I am reviewing the High School in particular.

The first thing I want to do is point out I was extremely tempted to make a Google account with my name when reviewing this school, due to fear of backlash. However, I'm already pre enrolled in another school and feel safe to post this.
HCA poses itself as an upscale, and Christian school. The facility is on par with a below average public school. Compared to a public Rockwall High school, it's honestly worse.
I won't lie; it's not awful in this aspect, but if you're going to be spending 10k+ on a school, there are several other nicer private schools to waste your money on.
The next thing to deal with is the Christianity. The school claims it hires high quality, christian teachers and the school is all around a Christian place. I would say maybe 1/2 of the kids are actual Christians. Maybe. Think about this: a kid gets in trouble with his parents for drugs or something. They want them to hang with a better crowd and go to a better school. Where do they send them? HCA. During my time there almost half of the "upstanding christian teens" that attended the school regularly smoked weed, drank or popped pills. And, on countless occasions during the school year I heard of these things happening during school and of course at school. Just because its a Christian school doesn't mean there's no kid selling weed there. There is. On top of that, several people I know were literally harassed by a teacher, one student was made fun of for their race by a teacher and the school literally did nothing.
Another teacher was fired because she had a party at her house where she supplied beer to kids and let them drink.
The school also makes students attend chapel. I doubt most students could tell you about more than one or two during the whole year. No one listens to them. Kids literally pass liquor around during them. There's been a fight during chapel, and that's probably the most memorable thing to ever happen in there.

Some small things to add: so many days are spent doing literally nothing. When a sport is gone for competition, every teacher drops every thing, and the students get a free day, which seemed to happen at least 2 times a month. There's also a huge amount of study halls, as there are next to no elective courses. During block schedule days, one of my friends had study halls for 3/4 the day.

If you want your kid to basically attend a sub par public school with 20 kids in their class, send them to HCA. If they don't like it, they can leave like 1/3 of the junior class did last year.

I fully expect to be threatened to take down this review by the admin.

This school has been one of the best schools I've ever attended. I have gone here for the past 9 years, great teachers, great staff, and a great focus on God. Its just like a family here at Heritage Christian Academy.

I attended HCA my junior year and to be honest it was one of the worst schooling experiences i've had so far. speaking from experience of being in alternative school, filled with drug crazed fiends or "ghetto" rockwall kids who just cause ruckus. even then the environment and teachers seemed to care more about their students and the material they were required to teach, rather then heritage. while attending this school I encountered several teachers using their high authority to get their way. i was slandered several times with racial slurs by TEACHERS... constantly being put in the "wrong" when everyone else saw I was in the right. I feel like this school was a huge waste of time for sub par teaching, with the exception of a few teachers, but overall schooling was very poor and not thoroughly taught. Highly do not recommend enrolling your kid in here unless you have 13k to waste just for your child to be judged and not welcomed at a "Christian school". (speaking from personal experience).
