Public libraries are the best part of America. Real books, real people and REAL UNADULTERATED KNOWLEDGE!! None of this social media bs that goes around

Every time I've been here it's been awesome! Staff are friendly, they have things for even toddlers to do and a good amount of books! My kids love it to!

Passing through Brigham City, I wanted to find a quiet place to work, concentrate and focus on a project. The LIBRARY! This building is beautiful and historic. I was excited to be here.

Within moments of arriving, I noticed continual loud voices, with loud conversations, and hearty engagement. While I'd usually want that kind of atmosphere, it was contrary to what I'd expected in the library and it was quite distracting.

The loudest offenders: the library staff. It was continuous for the hour I spent there.

I'd certainly be back, but hope the atmosphere could be more library-like.

Great people. Always helpful. Bathrooms are in the process of being renovated. To be completed in June 2025, if not earlier. Porta johns are outside or you can use the restrooms at the city building next door during their business hours. Water fountains are being replaced with one that can quickly fill tall bottles, too.

Internet is fast. I routinely see downloads in the 200mb range when I'm installing/updating games, for example.

I was at the library this past week studying, in preparation for career efforts. The library is typically very quiet and peaceful (from my experience). There were some younger people (teenagers?) that came in and I felt like they were intentionally being rude and distracting (saying F-words for example). I was at the time pondering certain communications related to a lawsuit I have been forced to deal with. There was emotional backing and my voice level became more elevated as I told them (in essence) that I was not happy and felt they were intentionally trying to ruin the peaceful atmosphere. I wished that I had spoken in a more "tame" manner. The group left. I believe a librarian tried to talk to them. A librarian also talked to me.

As the librarian talked to me, they sought understanding and were not backing the communication with threats or intimidation. The library does fine you if you have a late book. I have paid maybe 25 cents to a dollar total (as an estimate) after years of visiting this library and I have had some late books. I want to follow the library rules and wanted to write this review also, because of the fair and kind leadership.

I’m working on my masters, I have two kids at home and need a place to work without distractions. A few days ago, I was told very rudely that I needed to save my work and get ready to leave. I thought I must’ve done something wrong and over spent my time, but when I looked at my clock, there was more than 10 minutes before closing.
Yesterday, again, 10+ minutes before closing I rushed to use the restroom before leaving. They propped opened the restroom door(!) to- I believe rush me out? I was in the restroom for maybe 3-4 minutes total. There is absolutely no reason to treat people this way.
I’m respectful, I clean up after myself and others. I’m just trying to work.
I’m guessing I’m not the only person they treat this way. Mine, along with every other patrons tax dollars help fund this public service and the librarians need to remember that; we’re a community.
Also, since there is going to be more growth in the Brigham City area, they really should consider updating their work hours.

Response: I’m sorry if you misunderstood. I don’t have an issue with your procedure (besides not knowing that it exists), I have a problem with the approach.
However, with the same procedural logic, do you also open at 10:15?
If not, then, I’m sure you can understand where the confusion comes from.
My last piece of advice would be updating your hours to reflect your actual closing time at 5:30 & 8:30 rather than expecting people to know.

We love this library!! It's small but that's expected for such a small town. They have tons of books, magazines, and movies, and are always getting new things in. Their kids area is fun with puzzles and puppet shows, my kids love going to the library to hang out. Also the staff is great! They're friendly and helpful and work hard to keep the library clean and organized.
