Don’t work for this company if you have any other options. They wouldn’t know competitive pay if it jumped up and bit them. They definitely demand more than what they pay for. In the security department you protect their assets with your life (quite literally). Here are a few examples of how much they appreciate the hard work:
1- If you’re in an armed post and you have to use the firearms provided, you’re on your own. You’ll need to get a lawyer because this company will not back you.
2- If there’s a problem and you get taken hostage, you’re on your own. You might as well get right with whatever deity you choose because you’re going to meet them. This company isn’t going to try saving you.
3- They’ll lie to you and tell you that a raise is on the way, but then tell you to stop asking about getting paid more because it’s not going to happen. They pay the minimum wage required by law, which means, they could pay more, but they won’t.
There are other things that go in this company and when you combine it all you’ll see that the security department is considered worthless to this company. If you’re an officer, you don’t matter.

I worked for MTC while living in Florida and was very fortunate to have been a member of a good company. Upper management was very supportive and helpful to me and helped me to make sure that I was able to work with the best possible outcome for me and my coworkers. The Warden and Assistant Warden of Security were the best. Unfortunately I moved to Colorado and was not able to continue working for a great company like them.

This review is primarily on my last few months before leaving the company. In the beginning of my hire with MTC, it was great! Everyone treated me well and made me feel welcomed. But as time went by there were some derogatory and racial comments that I did NOT enjoy or liked hearing. I was told to not to speak about my race or religion by someone in HR, even though the company highlighted and “embraced” diversity. I was told that I am not my background but I am American by someone who desires a management role. Additionally, with the pandemic, I shared my concerns and thoughts as I learned that I was high risk and was not taken seriously or into consideration but brushed away. I had issues with one person on my team because the workload was a lot to begin with and this specific person kept throwing more work into the load I already had. I had multiple discussions about this and I felt no help was given or any discussion put into place. I didn’t feel protected by my superiors. Everyone had an issue with one another on the team I worked on and everyone talked about each other. The environment was toxic and it was changing my attitude and presents and I did not like that one bit. Although, my entire time wasn’t ALL bad— my time towards the end was enough justification for me to leave the toxic environment I was in. I saw no growth for me in the position I was at and I walked in thinking I’d grow more than I did.

I just saw a tiktok about a privately owned prison suing the state of Arizona for not having enough inmates. I know this happened a long time ago but to my surprise. You're not even from Arizona.....

I have only been at MTC for a month, but it feels like home. Everyone here treats you with respect and are always willing to help when you need it. It's nice to work for a company that is based on good values and cares about helping people succeed, not only in the corporate office, but at their correctional facilities and Job Corps centers. This is such a great organization and I'm glad I found it!

I have worked here for over a year now. I have been so impressed with how supportive and friendly everyone is here. I have fantastic supervisors who are anxious to help me grow as a person and as a professional. There are many activities and programs people do all the time to increase bonds of friendship and help you develop. We have Speakers Club, a social impact group, weekly wallyball games, crossfit, and yoga. The culture is really great here and I feel like I am making a difference for people through the work I do here. Great company!

Majority of staff treat inmates and family like they are less than human. Facility fails to meet jail standards more days than not. Staff members consistently partake in abuse of power and the warden scrambles to sweep it all under the proverbial rug. Retaliation tactics are used as often as stethoscopes in a hospital and if you complain even once, your mail just starts vanishing. I was shocked to learn that federal holidays are determined at the whim of the mail-room staff, the most recent Federal holiday at the Kyle unit was 2/15/22 🤷‍♀️ clean towels are only given as a bride to hush-up when complaints are being handled and you can guarantee there is zero accountability across the board.

This company has a heart for helping people. MTC is based around a business model that has social impact as a centerpiece. This company has nothing at all to do with separating families, in fact provides several resources to help families locate their loved ones. MTC has no discretion in where or how long a person is detained. They also house adults only and primarily those who have committed crimes. Please check out their website and the family resources.
