3 stars ONLY bc it is a program that helps the community but every single person I spoke to in the office treated me like my existence at that time and place was irritating and inconvenient to THEM.
1 star if my conscience could… Why the attitude?
I will admit I put off applying for H.E.A.T bc I wanted to pay my own bills and I kept telling myself I could get caught up once my work hours increased. Months went by but the work increase only lasted a couple weeks at a time. Enough for me to catch up on all my other bills but not utilities and then I was back to not working much again. A horrible cycle. Well, shut off notice came and I couldn’t put it off anymore. I applied for H.E.A.T. knowing that I might not make it before service got cut. I have to face the consequences but I’ll do what I can to get this done. I’m not stressing, whatever happens will happen, reacting any other way will not help me. Would I be inconvenienced? Yes, but that’s *MY* issue though, not the women in the HEAT office. My worry and stress, their job is to HELP, not stress about someone else’s situation. If my assumption is correct that they acted like this bc they were irritated with how last minute it was and now I’m facing shutoff, that’s not helping anyone when they act like that, it helps nothing! It only adds to the issue and certainly made me never want to see them again.
Are you there to be compassionate and understanding so you can help people or not? People seeking help don’t need to be lectured, chastised, talked to with disdain or my favorite, the “almost yelling” voice. Half way to yelling at you so everyone in the building can hear them but apparently they themselves are oblivious to their tone or volume. Listen, I can understand when somebody has waited until the last minute to do something, it can be frustrating. However, that is not YOUR issue, it is not YOUR stress, it is not helpful to show your frustration, especially if the person it’s happening to, isn’t stressed out.
HEAT is a community lifeline, a service to help those in need, regardless of how or why they’re in need. The WHY is not important. “Do they qualify” should be the only thing they’re worried about, not grilling you about your personal life or lecturing you to fill some misguided internal need they have. Acting like they can do whatever because we can’t do anything about it. I hate to think how many people have been mistreated by them and how many people put off getting help because of the people in the office… 😔 Disheartening to think about.

Our project thru SEUALG is not finished. Work has been ongoing since 10/2021. Live Electrical wires still hanging around. Could start fire, then we get new house. Seualg not following contract.
7/23 Update: my brother has 4th stage heart failure and I have a hernia. We are still trying to fix the bad work on this house. Live wires still hanging, electrical still done illegally. We have absolutely NO CONFIDENCE in SEUALG.
