I feel bad for anyone who truly needs help. There's no emergency food stamps! Some people don't have cars nor are in good health to go around looking for food banks. The transportation in Arkansas is also behind a couple decades. Human services department of Arkansas is behind century's. People who are low on food should be able to get their food stamps the same day like in other states. Why all the investigation, run around and loops to get food assistance? If someone isn't working then they should automatically qualify for food stamps. How are they going to buy food if there isn't any income? Another interesting thing that proves that the system is slow here is that, we have to return within weeks just to be told when is our appointment, and if we wait for the appointment letter to arrive through the mail, it will take longer. Is it being delivered on a mule?

I'm finding this 1 county agencies is not hiring from the top of new hires. Can't think out of the box so u don't have to go file applications over and over. Omg if your in a real bad situation you might find yourself one day short of something you needed that one day before you die. So get on it. Before you can't. Never take a chance. With this new dhs offic. There just going tp stress you out more I think. I'm sorry ladies behind the scenes.

The DHS office was relocated where Sears was. It's on the left ( sort of behind) the new gym crunch(orange), so if u go towards the restaurant Mariachi, you are going the wrong way. Drive the other way around the gym until u see the DHS (as seen in the photos).
The place is better than the old building. Take a number, have a seat, and wait till you're called. No more standing in line. There's plenty of seats.

The employees are very rude when you visit the office. Expecting people to know exactly what they're supposed to do when applying to get benefits when that person had never had to apply for benefits before and didn't know the process. Whomever answers the phone is generally nice, but to get things done you have to go to the office in person. The employees seem bitter and unhelpful. And shame on the state for making it take weeks or months to actually finally get any benefits. The Arkansas system is broken.

The wait was short. At my surprise, usually the few times I've gone, they were very busy
this time, they were not. The lady who helped me very nicely and knowledgeable . Didn't rush me as I asked questions. I wish I had remembered her name.
