We love our Alabaster School system. They have put the safety of our children as a high priority in these troubling times. The teachers and staff work very hard to be sure our kids have opportunities to learn in a good safe environment.

"The day the schools ignore the epidemiologists, pediatricians, and public health experts who have dedicated their lives to gain expertise in order to keep their communities safe is the day that schools send the message that education doesn't matter.” They choose to ignore the data and the Science and have turned a blind eye to the safety of the children, faculty and staff .

The teachers are great, the schools are nice, and if you like school athletics - there's few better.

If you want your kids in a school system that takes Covid seriously, or does anything more than the bare minimum to keep your kids safe - you can find better almost anywhere else.

The board is shamefully turning a blind eye to the medical community and ignoring facts in the name of politics.

They have failed in every conceivable metric they can be graded on when it comes to covid. Right now, if you're kid is in an Alabaster city school, there is a better than good chance they have a substitute teacher - and more often than not - that sub is some random person who works in the school system. Theyre running out of teachers, have record breaking numbers of kids out sick - and still refuse to go virtual. OR, at a minimum - require masks in the school.

The extent of "mitigation" to date, has been to count the numbers of people that get sick - and hope they didn't spread it to too many people.

I'm beyond disappointed in this school board.
