We have 7 learners at acton. Next year will be 2 (age 13 and 12) in MS, 3 ( age 10,9,8) in ES and 2 (age 6 and 5) in sparks. At acton, my childs personal development is just as important as the educational side. I love that they learn communication skills, how to work as a team, take ownership and pride in their work. Acton lakeside is a big giant family, everyone supporting each other and working together for one goal, creating leader for Gods kingdom to impact the world for the better.

We have 4 learners at Acton and I truly wish so many other families had the opportunity to experience Acton. I love that our kids are encouraged to be curious and independent and overall develop a life-long love of learning. I also love that strong character is encouraged just as much as academics. Our son has been at Acton Lakeside for a year now. He was at a private and prestigious traditional school before, but his creativity and curiosity were limited by a process meant for kids who are lumped into a standardized, averaged set of skills and facts that someone determined were appropriate for each specific age group. He was bored and hated school, including pointless assignments that were a waste of time, repeatedly having to regurgitate information that he already knew.

Acton was a game changer! He loves coming to school every day (and prays for no snow days). His confidence and curiosity are thriving. He gets to master concepts at his own pace (he finished 3 grade levels in math in the last year and is working on the 4th). He is given the autonomy to make decisions, work and problem solve in a team (with no need for adult involvement during conflict resolution), he is trusted to set his own goals and encouraged to forge his own path on the journey that emphasizes virtue and character building, leadership, hands-on learning, and finding a God-given calling that will make a difference in the world.

Most importantly, his love for learning has returned, as well as his excitement to dream big and envision a bright, limitless future for himself.

Acton is the future of education, the place where freedom is given so that learners can grow through making mistakes (which is celebrated) and develop confidence in their capabilities, while mastering skills that are actually needed in life. I know that the young heroes that come out of those doors, including my own, will be the next generation of virtuous leaders that our world so desperately needs.

It is also an amazing community of families on a common mission, invited to grow together alongside their children, supporting each other and giving of themselves. It is unlike anything else I have ever been a part of, and I am eternally grateful for having found this opportunity.

Our 5 year old son thrives in their learner-driven environment and, as parents, we take comfort in the fact that the guides care about each child as an individual as much as we do. Thank you Acton Academy Lakeside for providing the tools for my children to be the best versions of themselves. I cannot express how happy my wife and I were the day we walked into Acton. We left with a sense of relief knowing that we found exactly what we were searching for. Our children were used to formal teaching but all started in Montessori schools. This school has challenged our children and us as parents to be better and not settle. Being average isn't going to change the world and Acton is anything but average. . It has professionally and personally invested owner/operators, deeply caring and committed guides (teachers) and staff members, a true community of learners (students) and families inside and outside of school hours, a gorgeous building with hugely inviting learning spaces filled with natural light, plants and materials that entice curiosity, and a general environment that encourages and embraces each individual in ways that are unique to the school’s approach.
