I DO NOT recommend this school for pedicures.

First of all, the pedicure stations were not easily accessible. One very large step up. So if you have any mobility issues, don’t go here.

The water to soak my feet was in a plastic tub which the student had to carry to and from the shampoo station. There was no plastic liner in the tub. I did not witness any sterilization procedures for the soaking tub. When my feet were done soaking, the student carried the tub back to the shampoo bowls and on the way a lot of water was spilled on the floor, causing her to stop to clean up the spilled water.

Lighting was non existent over the work area. Overhead ceiling lights were behind the student. She was working in her own shadow. Not ideal for this type of work.

My cuticles were not trimmed. The station did not even have a pair of cuticle clippers. Rough skin not smoothed.

The nail polish selection was ok. The pale pink that I selected was unfortunately thick and gooey. I asked if there was a new bottle. The student went to the instructor for a new bottle. Instead of a getting a new bottle, the instructor added thinner to the old bottle. The student had to remove all the “gunky” polish from my toes and reapply the thinned out polish. Coverage was not the best.

I understand that this is an academy for learning. That being said, I would have expected more guidance and overseeing to be done by the instructor. The student was surely struggling with the setup and supplies.

The girl, who did my nails was super sweet! Unfortunately, before the end of the night, my thumb had the polish chipped off, and before the end of the next day, two of the acrylic nails had come off completely. They weren’t even on two full days! When I called to see if I could get my nails redone, or get a refund, the school explained that it was done by a student, and therefore I had no guarantee that they would be good… I knew that was something I should expect going in, but I didn’t think they would come off SO quickly. I was definitely bummed ☹️

As a former STUDENT who transferred from mtech, this is the best school in Utah county! If you value KINDNESS and really learning, this school is for you. I can’t say enough good things about American beauty, I love the staff and teachers. Definitely would recommend getting your education here! I was always busy and never stressed about getting clients in my chair.

They period there were really nice but when I asked for my hair to be bleached and dyed the color I wanted was purple, I ended up walking out with very damaged bleach hair and my hair was somehow red, hated my hair it look horrible and tried to hide in for as long as I could, surprised my hair didn’t fall out cause they left the bleach in for an hour and only left they dye in for 30 minutes. Please get your time right so you don’t completely ruin people’s hair, had to chop it all off cause of how dead my hair was and sense I wanted to use box dye from now on after this experience, really enjoyed the people, didn’t enjoy the treatment of my hair

As a customer, I have always been pleased with the students and with the instruction since the beginning of their time on Pauson.However, a recent event where they denied use of a purchased gift card and sent me packing, I have been bitter. This was on Friday and I was reassured a call by the owner. It is Wednesday and I have heard nothing. I called the salon again today and I wasn't nice, but I was told that the $10 I paid has been refunded ...j assume they found that the gift card was valid. However, the new balance of my gift card is $22 less than the original balance, but the haircut that I paid for was only 10. Can't get anybody to give me a solid answer. Management is poor!

If you are getting a haircut here, try to be as specific as possible and bring pictures. I had hair down to my lower back and wanted a good chunk cut off, but the girl cut it WAY shorter than I wanted with so many layers. It's hard to put it up to hide it until it grows out more, and I'm absolutely devastated and have been crying all weekend.

I tried explaining what I wanted, but she didn't ask any clarifying questions to make sure we were on the same page. She just kept cutting and cutting without saying anything or double-checking with me. And once your hair is cut, you can't go back, and you can't see what they're doing cause the start behind you. And they dont give you a mirror so you can look at how long it looks in the back.

I want to help the students get more experience, but not at the expense of me losing all my confidence and hair.

Abby Hansen did such a good job with my hair. It was a challenging day since a lot of students called off but they were very friendly and helpful!
