I loved all the classes I have taken here. The ones I have taken have been instructed by Cody Blocker. Cody is very knowledgeable and personable, and I've learned so much from his classes. But the best part of all is that Cody makes the classes fun.

It's been great to set aside some time for myself, be creative, and break up the monotony of the daily grind.

And Cody and the School make it easy for you. You don't need to worry about supplies as the school provides all that you need. Just show up, learn, and have fun! I can't wait to take another class!

I took Adult Academic Drawing from Cody Blocker at the San Rafael studio. Cody is an excellent instructor, combining clear explanations and demonstrations of concepts and techniques. He also gives ample time to each student to answer questions and offer helpful direction. The weekly projects build on each other in a logical way, helping to cement skills such as composition, proportion, shading, and establishing value scales. The studio is well equipped, and we learned how to make choices about and work with different materials. The studio was also pleasant to work in. I hope to take classes in the future.

Next week I will begin my third class here. I've been on a quest to be more creative and searching for something more instructional than the "Paint and Sip" classes offered. I am so happy to have found Art School of SF Bay in San Rafael. The studio is inspiring, bright and well appointed with all the supplies needed for class. They have an abundance of paints (oils and acrylics), pencils, easels, lighting, fabrics. So far I've taken a painting series and an impressionist series. I'm both challenged and able to express creative freedom. Cody is a truly gifted teacher and artist. He gives every student the level of attention they require (some more, some less). He's never too busy to show a reference from the masters and break it down or walk you over to the color wheel to help mix the right shade. Art School of SF Bay - the San Rafael studio - has been an absolute game-changer for my teen daughter! As a parent, it's been incredible to watch her artistic abilities flourish in such a supportive and challenging environment - she is extremely talented and we had trouble for years finding a school that could meet her at her level. The teachers are not only incredibly talented artists themselves, but they're also kind, patient, and truly invested in their students' growth. My daughter is constantly challenged to push her creative boundaries and explore new techniques. The art she's creating is simply incredible – sophisticated, expressive, and truly unique. We love this school!

Cody is a brilliant teacher who was able to provide great advice on how to improve my painting. His guidance helped me to develop techniques which included (not limited to) perspective and composition, use of colors, brush technique, applying light and shade; to basic geometry. Cody (and the team) took the time to develop these and other skills.... I would highly recommend.

My 12 year old enjoyed Graffiti Art Camp here very much and wants to sign up for another camp week next year. He was very proud of his progress at the end of the week and excited to bring home so much art each day. He told me the instructor was fun and inspired the kids a lot.

This art school is truly a treasure! My 9-year-old son is an exceptionally gifted artist who prefers more sophisticated art over typical children's crafts. This school has been instrumental in helping him hone his advanced skills and thrive as a young artist. We are incredibly proud of all the pieces he has produced during his first semester. We've already enrolled him for another semester! Not only has he acquired new techniques, but these skills have also deepened his passion for creating art!

My teenage daughter has been going to the Advance Teens art class at the Art School of SF Bay in San Rafael for almost a year now, it's her favorite activity outside of school. Cody gives the students an opportunity to learn and grow in a self-directed manner and challenges them to take on more ambitious projects and learn new techniques. She also has taken some of the summer classes, and really enjoyed those as well. It's a nice community of students and it's wonderful for her to be exposed to older teens working on their portfolios for college, too. I highly recommend the Art School of SF Bay!
