The area around the visitor center is great. Trails run through wetlands and there is even a photo blind. But the biggest downside are their trails. They are open sunrise to sunset. So far so good, but you can't use any of the loop trails if the visitor center is closed. You need to track back to the first crossing and go back to the parking lot that way. All the trails run literally through the visitor center but the visitor center currently closes at 4pm and is not even open every day. This could have been handled better, the architect of these trails probably never used a trail in their life.

Awesome views in just about every direction. There some Harris Hawks & Bald Eagles along with some ducks. I'll return in the spring to see what birds show up by then

This is one of my favorite places. I had a chance to volunteer here in the past. The education center is a great building, peaceful place, and there have been friendly and inclusive people from my experiences. I hope to share it with my children more down the road. Keep up the great work! I am sorry about any workers losing jobs. You have made a big difference and your efforts have not been wasted. Thank you!

Definitely worth the visit if you’re into wildlife refuges or birding. Went on a July day, and while not the best time of year, there were still a lot of birds to see, including some white pelicans. The roads are dirt but seemingly well maintained and hard packed so any passenger car would be fine. The official visitor center has hours different from the refuge.

Beautiful. Secluded. It's absolutely worth your time to visit. The views are breathtaking. World-class birding. Get out of your automobiles, walk, listen, meditate.

Incredible!! This place blew my mind d. It was like a bird safari. I saw 22 different species during the auto tour!

The visitors center is very nice. There are a few different y walks from there, but we didn’t see any thing until we drove to the actual refuge.

We missed the swans but saw so much. I want to go back a different time of year and see what else we can find.

A fun and educational place to take younger kids. I probably wouldn't go more than once, maybe twice a year. We enjoy going on their event days like owl and swan day. There are some nice walking paths through the marshes. There is also a dirt-paved auto tour. If you do that, make sure to bring binoculars.
