Manager would not sell me ammo. due to him being only one that could sell. stated that he had to watch the front door. Selma big 5 and Fresno big 5 had only one manager on duty. still sold me ammo took longer wait but still made it happen.

Overall experience was average for a chain store.

Store was clean ... staff friendly and tried to be helpful. But you have to understand that these employees are NOT sportsmen who work here ... so they have little, to no clue, about the inventory or about the needs of you or the sport your trying to shop for.

Store could be laid out better and items could be better found if organized by sports type or intended use. However, you can find most of what you need if you are willing to look around and spend another 30 minutes ... give or take 10 minutes ... in the store.

(A few of many examples = looking for a backpack ... found same brand, (my desired brand) which has 3 sizes, in 4 different locations in store. "And the size I wanted was buried behind other packs, high on a wall" (But not on any other display) ... so I'd have missed it completely, if I didn't want to look at another, similar pack in that display. One size was in the "soccer" area ... which would be ok ... if it wasn't a hiking/hunting backpack and totally inadequate for soccer needs. Also ... hydration-bladders were on 2 different racks in opposite ends of the store. "I found the bladder I wanted by accident." .... I found fishing gear and camping gear to be the same way.)

Staff is very friendly, and "appear" to want to help. But in the middle of looking at a few options and sizes of one product, and asking questions to ensure that item would fit my needs ... the employee couldn't answer any of my questions ... then ... they disappeared. So ... It would be a great help if staff could be more educated on products ... at least know the product features ... even if they don't use them for their own, personal recreation.

Still ... they do carry name brands and have the chain-store buying power to keep prices down to an affordable level ... so I will return and continue to shop here.

But I'll ask my questions and do my research online before I enter the doors of the store to make a purchase.

Had a bad experienced on this Sales lady named ADRIANA over Big 5 Madera sporting /hunting goods. POOR customer service and pleasing personality. It seemed she's not in a willing manner to sell to an interested customer or buyer.
Anyways, Waited 20-30 minutes just for processing of my purchased Item. By the way I purchased the Item for the reason I'd talked to the other sales personnel that convinced me because he had knowledge about the item.

I dont want to compare her to other experienced good sales personnel possessing A1 customer service. But it's not right to treat customer's right just like that.

Customer service needs major improvement. One guy was looking for shoes in the back for me and then went and helped another family and left me hanging. When another employee asked if i had been helped, I told her sort of. She went into the back to look for the shoes and then the 1st guy came and told me that we shouldn't have asked her, she was not a sales person. I got up and left. I will be going to ShoeShak tomorrow and get better Customer service.

Small store packed with lots of sporting goods. Employees are always busy but will at least tell you..Well be right with you if you need help. Good prices on various types of shoes.

This store is in a very popular location in Madera and is very convenient, but its not very big for a sporting goods store. They have a lot packed in here, things like exercise bicycles, corn hole games, and snow socks, water bottles, exercise equipment, camping gear and, of course, sporting goods. Prices are average and reasonable. I've even seen some really good deals here during the holidays. The store is located between the Dollar Tree and Petco.

Went in to get sum running shoes and a knife for my son..the associate Johnny w the curly hair was more than helpful..helped me pick sum good quality shoes and the perfect knife..above n beyond..we need more Johnnys ..the whole staff was courteous even with bein overwhelmed w customers ..😊😊
