Beautiful hidden gem! This reserve has lots of parking and is hidden behind in a little oasis of its own. The gates are open from sun up to sun down and it’s free. There is ample parking and a really cute pollinator garden with various flowers and bushes/trees. The trails are nice and well maintained. There’s small trails and a larger trail section which goes onto and around lake grapevine. The trails have various signs explaining the history, wildlife, and plants around the area. Note that there’s NO DOGS allowed on the trail (Fido will have to sit this one out). They have clean bathrooms (port a potties but well maintained) and several picnic area tables to relax under. Very nice area outside of the city to hike, hear the waves and birds, and get moving!

One of my favorite trails to hike in the area! It’s peaceful, scenic, and offers just the right amount of elevation for a solid workout without being too intense. Bonus: it connects to Grapevine Lake where you might stumble upon a rope swing (yes, really!) and even the occasional horseback rider. Perfect mix of nature, adventure, and Texas charm.

First of all, this place does not allow you to bring pets on the trails. Second of all, the Lake Grapevine trail needs significant improvement. The road is very muddy and gross to walk on. For a faster walker, one way from the nature center to the lake is 30 minutes. A lot of mud and wildlife’s to watch for. Very overrated nature preserve. BTW they don’t have restroom, just a portapotty at the trail head.

Love the variation of habitat and the diverse trails. So far I've seen fawn, numerous birds, armadillos, turtles, and a rat snake. The native plants are fun to identify and I've even spotted a white-form version of passionflower here.

I am unsure why/if dogs aren't allowed here as there is signage on the trails outside of the park which allow them to walk the paths as long as they're leashed?

Regardless, this is one of the most peaceful sanctuaries to explore. Thank you!

Absolutely loved this hike! There was a cool tree swing at about halfway through. Horses and pets are allowed on the trail. So, if piles of poo in the middle of the trail are not your thing, this is not the trail for you. As for me and my husband, we had a super fun hike!

The maps and trail markers really need to be synced up. The provided maps along the trails have no labels on the trails. There are trail markers with some trail names but no way to know where that trail goes or if it is a loop or connects to another trail.

It is great that there is this much open space with trails in a very metro area and there is lake shore that has been reserved for nature and not more houses.

Beware of all the stickers along the lake sections. There are thousands that easily attach to you when just brushing near as you pass someone on a narrow trail section.

Great to have so much trail available in a metro setting along the lake. If you plan a longer hike, bring your own map. While some trails are labeled there is no map reflecting the names of the trails. Some trails are not named and just crisscross thru the park.

This is a nice park/preserve located in the middle of a very high end neighborhood. The trails are well maintained. Main building was closed when I was there so I didn't get a chance to check it out.
