I had the privilege of attending the first event Bridge of Grace held at the Touchmark Retirement Community with students from the Idaho Fine Arts Academy. It was such a beautiful and powerful event. The interactions between the students and seniors literally filled the room with love and joy. Seeing the smiles and happiness from the seniors was so heartwarming. I enjoyed the chance to chat with many of them about the beautiful art, their connection with the students and how much they were enjoying the event. Bridge of Grace's goal of connecting kids with seniors by sharing art and companionship, really hit the mark! The event was a testament to that. I wish the team at Bridge of Grace continued success and I look forward to the next spectacular event.

My kids and I had the best time at the Bridge of Grace event we went to at a retirement home in the treasure valley. The whole idea behind this non profit is bridging the gap between the youth students and the senior citizens through art. Let me just say I teared up more than once at the event.
- The biggest thing I noticed was how polite the students of the art school were. So many young people these days struggle with respect and engaging with adults. These students didn’t not struggle. They were so chatty, polite, and respectful. They were engaging in real conversations with the seniors. That was the first thing that made me tear up. I could tell it was really making the seniors’ days.
- Next was how sweet the seniors were with the students and the kids that came to the event. They all had a grandparent instinct and were so kind to my kids. One nice lady even gave my kids stuffed animals. They showed real interest in the students’ talents boosting their confidence.
- On most pieces of art, students had written little blurbs about the artwork. Often a story behind it. Several of those stories made me tear up. These students really put their hearts into their art and they were all so talented. It inspired my 7 year old to come home and immediately start practicing his drawing, mentioning wanting to make art like those students one day.
- Lastly, it was so heartwarming to see the founders of Bridge of Grace there smiling and enjoying what they’ve created. It’s obvious they have such passion for that they are doing and I’m happy they do. Everybody needs human connection. Our seniors often don’t get enough, but even our youth lacks meaningful human connection with everything being digital these days. Bridge of Grace absolutely succeeds in bridging that gap between some of society’s oldest and youngest members. Im so thankful they are local to me and hope to see them spread across the country because every single area could benefit from this organization.

Jay of Bridge of Grace is a man with vision and determination, and I've heard great things about his recent event at Touchmark, where he brought a group of art students together with senior residents to share their artmaking experience, interact with them, and spread joy.
