I had a truly excellent experience here on 12/14/24! Great old-school rental and tuning shop that RENTS SKI JACKETS!! (Marty saved me so much time and $$; I got everything I needed in one place, on my way to the mountain 🙂
I initially came in just to have my binding settings adjusted, but after talking with me extensively about my skiing habits, reviewing all the binding guidelines, and discussing my strong desire to not incur knee injuries (lol), we decided to leave the settings as they were. Marty had thoroughly checked the binding release action on both points of both skis, and I had the benefit of his expertise, so I expected to pay at least something for that, but he declined any payment. So, I took the opportunity to have him give my skis a much-needed sharpening and wax, which he did, by hand, in about 20-30 minutes. We had a very nice chat while he worked; he's got all the local insider info about Killington and the area! He asked where I was off to next, and I explained that I was going to goodwill to try to find a cheap ski jacket, having forgotten mine as it was hung in a closet rather than bagged with the rest of my gear, and I was happy to discover that he also rents ski jackets- a too-well-kept secret! Don't expect anything fancy, but if you want something to keep you warm, for only $10/day, come here!!
Later on, as I worked my way down some classic early-season black diamond trails, with generally great conditions but also the usual skiied-off areas, and my friends talked about how icy the trails were, I realized that the edge sharpening had made a huge difference for me!
Cannot recommend this place enough for its value, service, and awesome vintage vibe!!

Marty knowingly rented my friend a snowboard with a broken binding without disclosing it. When we returned to request an exchange, Marty obliged. However, he also let us know that it was our fault for not inspecting the item beforehand. He did not apologize for the inconvenience of having to drive back to his rental shop from the mountain.

Marty is a true ambassador to the great sport of skiing. I grew up on the mountain and used to race, but life has since taken me to places that only allow for skiing a few times a year. When I come back to visit, I always rent from Marty. Not only is he committed to keeping his prices affordable, he really takes his time to get you the right fit. If you are learning to ski or if it's your first time at Killington/Pico, you won't find a better place than Budget to rent because his advice and local tips are invaluable. His enthusiasm for the sport is infectious. Come in for the skis (or boards) - stay for the inspiration.

Not sure why my old review isn’t showing up, seems like the owner got rid of it, but two years ago I used equipment from this shop. When I fell with extreme force, the ski still didn’t eject so I fractured my tibia and fibula. I had two surgeries in 2022 and my bone still did not fully heal, so I had another surgery this February to fix a non union of the tibia. Just be careful where you rent from….can’t even sue because I signed my life away

I've been to Budget ski Rentals a few times now and Marty is knowledgeable, friendly and enjoyable to chat with. He was very helpful in setting me (a beginner) up with the appropriate gear and sizes. I definitely reccomend!
