The gym and facilities are excellent, but the staff is… lacking. It is quite shameful for a school with such high values of community to be staffing these people who clearly do not care to be there or to help others. The workers at the front desk barely acknowledge your presence, and when they do, it seems as though they don’t have any interest in their job. In addition, the rare ones who do bat an eye seem to want to make everyone’s life more difficult. Recently, one young woman at the front desk actually had the nerve to ask me to wait for her supervisor to check my onecard because the card reader wasn’t working. She proceeded to let 3 others in that arrived after me without scanning their cards. I have been going to this gym for more than 7 years now, and I am seriously considering switching to a different gym. It’s a shame because as I mentioned, the facilities are high quality but the staff is an affront to the university’s reputation.

I have liked this gym facility, but the card scanner has been broken for months now. A few weeks ago, they posted that parts have been obtained to fix it. It still isn't fixed. For a school that brags about its education, I figured they would find someone to be able to fix the thing. Instead, I have to wait in line for a clerk to type in each person's card number.before then telling us to just walk through the exit. UPDATE: The card scanner has finally been fixed.

A few different times during the hotter months, the AC wasn't working--in addition to the scanner not working. Amazingly, their payment plan still worked. I get to pay the same price for inconveniences.

It would also be nice if they could get a larger designated area for people to use yoga mats for stretching. Lately, there are people sprawled out on the floor all over the place. I have to step over people to get to the area to place my backpack.

I'm also curious if they only charge 2/3 the regular cost of the facility for the month of December since they are closed for 10 days during that month. It seems unfair to charge me for a full month when the facilities are closed for a 1/3 of the month.

The Burns Recreation Center is the best gym on campus! The entire staff is always friendly and willing to help with any issue you may have. The gym always has weights to lift and places for me to do my jumping jacks. The basketball courts are great for watching the big game, and you just might see a celebrity if you are lucky!

It's a pretty clean gym, especially for University. Wish they could do better about the smell when all the frat boys come. I know it's a gym but it gets nasty and smelly really fast lol.
