I have been coming to Charles Academy for over a year now. The place has really changed from what it was. It's ? % better than one year ago. There are new dryers, and more washing stations. The owner is very friendly. There are worse places. I really enjoyed when the students were here, but sometimes changes are good. I hope they are all doing great. Come by Charles Academy and get great service. They are open to do hair Monday-Thursday 930 am - 1230 pm. Fridays 830 am - 1230 pm. Until you come get your hair styled, have a Happy Styling Day . ❤️✂️‍

An absolute joke!! DO NOT subject your child to this school. They will bully them beyond belief and dare you go up there and try to defend even in a calm manner they threaten to call the cops or suspend your child. The owner will either hide in her office if you come there to address issues or make her "fake licensed staff" lie and tell you she's not there. One hair instructor was nothing more than a student who never finished. Call and ask to speak with someone about an issue and get yelled and cussed out
We paid for our child to learn and she was treated like she was nothing more than a servant. Do hair, clean bathrooms, do hair! No breaks. Dare ask a question get belittled or made fun of in front of clients and fellow students. This school is running off the reputation of the old owners and people need to speak out and say how it is now.
Also they have a aesthetician course with NO INSTRUCTOR...unless you consider youtube the instructor. (Now this may have changed in the last 6 months but I would be shocked if so)

I’m going to try to make this review short and sweet. Let me just say this I enrolled in the school in January hoping for a better and new future. I enrolled into the esthetics program and they had no license instructed to teach me. The student instructor they had was clueless on teaching me anything, going to school every day was a complete struggle. I watched YouTube videos to teach myself for my state board because the school did not teach me anything. I try my hardest to push through and keep a positive attitude, but instead the school decided to terminate me. They also hired a lady who is a complete bully. How are you 53 years old and and you get off bullying young women. HOW SAD!

This is my first time coming to Charles Academy and I tell you I am so impressed with everyone. Everyone’s been very nice to me. They treated me with so much respect and kindness, and it was so helpful to me and I will be coming back. These ladies are a jewel.

Let me start out by saying that hair was my passion. I was so excited to go to school especially after hearing so many great things about this place.
The new owner is only worried about money. The amount of stealing going on here is actual insanity. A student had signed up for esthetician class and upon realizing after a few weeks how these people treated their students she decided to switch schools. They had her sign two different papers before she started stating if she unenrolled she would have to pay a certain amount. The amounts on the papers were two different numbers. I will never forget being in that office when she came to unenroll and I heard the owner and a “manager” talking saying they were going to make her pay the higher price because they wanted her to pay more.
Speaking of money issues all of us students were in the classroom during theory getting yelled at saying we were going to have to start paying money for using the water because they weren’t breaking even on the school. We also got used as janitors and had to scrub those nasty bathrooms that were for the clients. If we refused we would be suspended. If we were sick and missed our day of cleaning we would have to “make it up”. We also were worked like dogs in a sweat shop. On top of having no AC in the hot summer months they would get mad at us threatening to suspend us when we would turn on the fans. When needing to take a break because we were over heated we were threatened with suspension.
There was a student in there as well who claimed she was partial owner. She only ever actually did a few hours on the clinic floor and the rest of her hours were forged. She acted like she was our teacher and like she had some authority over us. When state board came in she acted like she was a client knowing that she would be in trouble if they found out what she was doing.
They also paid off state board to give us a 100 on our salon grade when 2 weeks prior it was 55.
The amount of bullying going on here by grown women is actually ridiculous. This isn’t high school these are grown women who are so insecure about themselves they have to take it out on the students. The seam in my pants had ripped on the pavement one day and when asking if I could go change my pants I was told to turn around in-front of all the clients so that everyone could see if I was lying or not. When I said no I got called a liar and was told “if your pants ripped that must mean you need to go on a diet”. These are grown women saying these things to me at the time a 17 year old.
When my grandmother had passed and I was outside crying I got laughed at by one of the instructors who begin to say “life happens you have to get over it”. Absolutely disgusting.

I would never wish this treatment upon anyone and strongly advise you to RUN from this school and stay far away.
The only good thing I have to say and the only reason I got through this school when wanting to quit so many times was my classroom teacher Ms. Hill. She was so caring and kind and so encouraging when many of us wanted to walk out or quit because of the bullying going on by the other grown women.

My experience with Charles Academy of beauty Culture was good. There was not a long waiting time for service. The student was pleasant and helpful. The facility was clean. I was fully satisfied with the complete service. I will definitely return.

Even god was not a peaceful spirit when mankind took it upon themselves to lie, cheat, steal, kill and etc.

Please know that I had previously gone to school for cosmetology in 2012. I have heard such great things about Charles Academy. I know plenty of people who went there and graduated and are very successful. Well the previous owner passed away. This new owner took over two years ago when I came to enroll to get my refresher course done she did not provide me with all of my hours that I previously had, she told me that the price was $6700 for the refresher course come to find out in the last few months that I’ve been paying this full price for a refresher course when this price is actually for the cosmetology course after the lady was exposed on camera at the school we contacted State Board to check our hours due to other students that she did not allow to graduate on time because she wanted to keep them for her for free as long as possible. The first one was Cheyenne. She fought tooth and nail against her and her parents try not to allow her to graduate on time we found out that this lady the owner of Charles Academy culture had not been reporting our hours correctly to State Board at this point, I should have been finished with my course. Now we have another student who was supposed to graduate prior to Mother’s Day, but the owner made a statement to everyone that no one would be graduating before Mother’s Day because she wanted us all to work the Friday before, knowing that it was going to be slammed in the salon. Also, let’s not forget how she is adding a $2500 fee at the end of our graduation if we missed days and is refusing our transcripts and withdraw papers unless we pay fees to her for those things when I called State Board at the school I should have had more than 300 hours And only had 200 hours those absent fees for when my grandpa passed away and when my uncle passed away this year are being charged to me and I’m being refused withdraw papers unless I pay all of those fees I have paid $6700. She does not accept financial aid. This is cash pay only she does receive checks money orders and cash and that is what she received from me. She cashed a check from almost 2 years ago from a previous graduate. She also has a roster of students that none of us have ever seen or met in the school and they all have nail tech licenses Paid and all in her family. I have plenty of recordings where she tried to deny me my work license due to my absence for family loss so I downloaded the PDF and emailed it to her and she had nothing left to say to me other than providing me the paper for my license. DO NOT GO TO CHARLES ACADEMY!!!

We have all been “terminated” she stated I didn’t pay for 5 months but I have receipts!!!
