Its good but I did get mucked about by the head dance instructor. For several weeks I was allowed to use the upstairs dance room then after her finding out about me being a regular (by her pet student) and that I was trained in S Asian dance, I was told I could no longer use the room by this head instructor, although I was a paid member. It was her pet student who did this with her out of bias. Both are caucasian and I am part Indian. There is some questionable control issues and supremcy attitudes among some of those in power at CSI, esp women toward women. There appears to be a power struggle. I did not appreciate this and it caused me distress for a few weeks being a serious dance practitioner. The downstairs room was always dirty and my feet turned black.
I believe Idaho is light years behind about fairness and woman-to-woman's equality and most appear to live under a patriarchal paradigm.
Other than this, I have had decent experiences at CSI with using their gym. However,
I have experienced some xenophobia toward outsiders by several local students who appear to believe CSI belongs to them. The pet student had this attitude toward me.
By providing something and then taking it away from someone due to bias is a control and discrimination issue, whether someone is a gym member or a student, nobody should be targeted! The head dance instructor is unfair.
Point of fact, the dance room upstairs is more than half the time empty- not used. This did not seem to matter to the head instructor which is indicative of a coercive controlling person.
Another lady who works there stopped the bias and now the room can be used again. It was an unfortunate experience for me to have to go through and to get assistance from another oerson who worked there because of bias. The downstairs room is also being maintained as clean now which was not the case before. It can be used without my feet turning black!
An educational institute should not allow their staff whether senior or not to discriminate against members or students but for several weeks the head dance indtructor was allowed to. Her last name is Leggett which is Russian. Anyway, supremcy takea different forms today.
