Edit: I am relieved to know that Dance Workshop is under different ownership (Stevie) and I hope that the policies have been changed from the time I was there years ago.
This was my experience: If you attend here, please be advised that if you also attend another dance school, expect to be permanently banned from ever returning to Dance Workshop. Also expect that if you attend class with another teacher, any dance scholarships you earned from Dance Educators of America and their dance competitions will be taken from you (and possibly awarded to someone else in your class who did not earn them.) This is what happened to me back in the late 1990s. Neither I nor my parents (who were the ones shelling out hard-earned money (BIG BUCKS) for me to attend Dance Workshop) were ever informed of the apparent "unspoken rule" that students must not attend classes anywhere else. Yet still, Kay Welch informed my mother on the phone that I was to never attend Dance Workshop again. The experience scarred me and left me heartbroken. I respected Kay and Sonia Welch probably more than I have ever respected any teacher in my life. They were top notch in their field. I was just beginning to be "welcomed" into the distinguished class for seniors, where all of the top dancers received advanced training. I had helped them to obtain a Gold Medal for the lyrical dance "Bridge Over Troubled Water." To repeat, I honestly had no idea I was "not allowed" to receive instruction from any other teacher. And I was on my way up in the school, thanks to my own work ethic in dance. Still I was kicked to the curb with no warning nor any second chance.
Perhaps Dance Workshop is different under Stevie. For the sake of the students, I certainly hope so.

I grew up taking classes at Dance Workshop with the previous owner, and I have many fond memories. Now, under new ownership and in a new studio, the best of the old and new have come together. The traditional styles of ballet, tap, and jazz are exactly what I remember from my 9 years of classes throughout childhood and high school. The new owner, Stevie, is a fantastic dancer and a wonderfully attentive and personable instructor. If you are considering sending your kids here or attending the adult dance class, I highly recommend!
