Very friendly and personable staff, private dives, beautiful scenery. Made reservations by phone using a card. Had to make a few follow-up calls with questions, they were always helpful and friendly. We hadn’t been diving for awhile, but Shawn was patient and knowledgeable. It’s obvious he and Ron have done this for awhile and know how to make you feel comfortable and relaxed. Once we got settled in the water, Shawn took us for a great kelp forest tour. He knows right where all the attractions are. It was my first ocean dive and favorite dive experience so far. We would definitely come back here. The shop is small and doesn’t have much room to enter, so plan and dress accordingly. You will likely be suiting up outside the shop (some dive companies in Avalon don’t even have shops). It is not a problem though, these guys will get everything ready for you and bring it out. They made it a super easy, enjoyable experience. They drive you to Casino Point and bring you back to the shop once the dive is over. Everything took just under 2 hours. Our only regret was not booking a snorkeling trip too!

Absolutely fantastic! I made my reservation over the phone, and the staff was helpful and answered all my questions. Ron himself was our guide for our dive through the kelp forest, and he was patient, informative, and accommodating. He is an ideal person to operate a scuba shop and work as a local area guide, and I am confident that the rest of his team follow his lead.

The shop is nudged on Pebbly Beach Road; look for the "Snorkeling Catalina" sign above the entranceway, and the red "Dive Moore" banner on the side. I've included a photo of shop's exterior. After you register your paperwork, they will give you the equipment that you need and drive you over to Casino Point. Everyone is different with their air, but anticipate to be under for @ 45 minutes (give or take) for the guided kelp forest dive.

Ron is the most patient and kind person ever! He took me, my husband (who’s never stepped foot in the ocean and has a phobia of deep water) and our 18 year old son out snorkeling for our first time, and it was an experience of a lifetime. Ron is extremely knowledgeable about the island, and marine life but he is also a very experienced diver with a kind and gentle soul that loves what he does and it shows. He worked with our unspoken anxiety and nerves so graciously and truly made us feel safe and comfortable in the ocean. We explored Lovers Cove and saw SO much animal and plant life. I can’t wait to book another tour with Ron, and I HIGHLY recommend you book with him too!

Such a great dive experience! We had two experiences - snorkeling and Scuba. Snorkeling in lovers cove was a fun introduction to the Catalina coastline before we did Scuba the next day. It was my daughter's first dive and Shawn was outstanding in making sure she was comfortable at every step. He was very patient and such a terrific guide through the kelp beds. A great intro dive - now she wants to get certified! Thanks! We will be back again!

I had the pleasure of 4 dives over 2 days with Shawn Cape, the Master Diver and owner of the shop. I had NOT dove for 4 years and he did an thorough refresher course ! He is excellent and went thro all the safety checks. This dive site is superb. I totally recommend him and will come back with my family and dive with him again. A BIG THANK YOU SHAWN !

These guys were the best! They were super knowledgeable, professional and helpful. Treated us kindly and with respect, gave great advice, were flexible and accommodating with timing, and picked up our gear at Casino point after diving so we could avoid many trips with a salty golf cart. The pricing was so reasonable - better than on the main land for tank and weight rental! We're dive professionals ourselves, so we know what great customer service in the industry looks like, and both Shawn and Ron are nailing it. I listened to part of Ron's briefing with some open water students, and you'd be so fortunate to learn to dive with such an old pro with such amazing history in the water. Go see them!
