We recently completed a private birthing class with Katie and she was incredible! We booked the class jointly with our best friends, who are also expecting their 1st baby, and Katie was able to connect with all of us. She personalized the class to meet both of our birthing preferences and answered all of our individual questions. Our husbands were a little out of their element with the whole birthing class setting, but Katie was able to take their joking around and make them feel like they were part of the whole experience. We were a little unsure of what to expect out of the class, just because it was something we had never done before, and after it was over I just kept saying how thankful I was that we decided to do it! We’ve recommended Empowered Birthing to everyone we know who’s having a baby!

I cannot recommend Diantha from Empowered Birthing highly enough. As a certified childbirth educator, DONA certified birth doula and certified lactation counselor she has been an invaluable part of my pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum team for my last two babies. She was amazing in the birthing room both times and was confident, compassionate and highly knowledgeable. She worked seamlessly with my husband and I as well as the rest of the care team to achieve the birth I wanted and manage any surprises and challenges that came up. Having a great doula has absolutely contributed to having good birth experiences, which I am very grateful for.

I’m so glad I found Empowered Birthing!! I had a doula for my first birth but working with Katie and Diantha was a whole different experience- in a great way! They brought up so many great discussion points for my husband and I before the birth and I felt supported in having the birth I wanted. When it came down to the big day, I was so impressed with how supported my partner and I felt. There was no end of cool towels, sips of fluid, offers of food, and physical and verbal support that really made a difference in my labor this time around. My biggest fear was tearing like I did the first time and when I did end up tearing again (not as badly as the first time) Katie was ON IT when it came to comfort measures. She told me I could have nitros oxide to help get through the stitching and normally I don’t like pain medications but I gladly accepted and it helped me make it through that tough patch. I got emotional telling my mom about how I felt like Katie really helped me through that part because it was the part I didn’t want to repeat from the first time. Before Katie left the hospital she asked if she could get us anything and ended up getting us a rotisserie chicken and potato salad since the kitchen was closed by the time I had my daughter. Having Katie at the birth was a huge help and a great comfort.

I was so happy to receive lactation help, postpartum, from Diantha, who showed up with flowers and muffins!! I may go for a third, and I’ll definitely be hiring Katie and Diantha again!

I highly recommend the Dula services and birthing classes at Empowered Birthing. Especially for first time pregnancies. Their expertise and experience provided me with all the information and tools I needed to make informed decisions along the way.
