Garrett Counseling was no a good place for me and my family.
They were unorganized and their billing department was unprofessional and disarrayed. They turned me into a Holloway Debt Collectors for $250.00+ for two (2) "missed" appointments, and I e-mailed them that I was not going to make the sessions due to a work emergency since I work as a first responder. The debt collector has a fee of 30%, so I had to pay $515.00+ with fees/late charges.
They never called or emailed me about the situation. And ALL my payments were auto deducted from my bank account, so they should not have an excuse for not getting paid. Also this was fees from OVER 2 YEARS AGO, and the collector just now notified in June 2025 from 2023!
A simple phone call would have corrected the issue 2 years ago.
I would advise to NOT go to Garrett Counseling or this could happen to you and your family. I also turned them into the BBB. There are so many better options!

Insurance/billing is a nightmare.
After my EAP, they told me one price per visit to continue my sessions. After about 2-3 more sessions, they started asking me to pay a payment which was WAY more. All of a sudden they misread my insurance and the payment was actually $100 moreā¦per visit. Not only did I have to stop my sessions. Now they basically harass me for payments. If I was provided the correct information then I wouldnāt even have a bill.
Havenāt heard from them in months now they want to send a bill and threaten ācollectionsā. I wish their level of accountability was as high their level of audacity and unprofessionalism. I should not be paying for their mistake/oversight, especially when they didnāt inform until hundreds of dollars later.

Amazing training! I walked away with so much knowledge and also a new play therapy kit. I use it just about every day with my teens, kids and adults. Dr. Garrett is very knowledgeable and down to earth. This was the most interactive training Iāve ever had. 10/10.

Chelsea, with the scheduling department is by far the worst person to deal with when it comes to your scheduling needs. Constantly would schedule us for appointments we did not agree to, would say she put us on a waitlist and then I WOULD HAVE TO CHECK IN about it and then she would be like oh yeah one is available for today. Almost like she never did put us on the waitlist to begin with. Would constantly contact my partner as well about appointments and such but not me when I am the one that spoke to her about them to begin with. Never apologized or acknowledged the fact when brought to her attention, just diverted to the next thing. The counselor we had is wonderful but due to the scheduling disrespect and disregard for true customer service needs we no longer wish to pursue to go here.

2020-2021 was 3/4 years ago. No lobby?
They never automatically billed me for 3 visits (outsourced billing error apparently). When they finally did, they didnāt even call first, causing an NSF issues with the bank (and that was over a month later!). Really un-organized and just sloppy. 48hr cancellation policy, is really hard when you have a 830am appointment on a Tuesday, and no-one calls or texts you back over the weekend. They prefer to use a ātext messageā system, which is weird for a counseling facility.
One would think, this should be a place for counseling, to talk and to listen, and what their mission statement is all about. Not here. This administration doesnāt care about your well being. Just money, almost like a franchise. If they cared, they would really try to help people, from the top to the bottom. I regret my decision. Shame on you, for making issues worse for many people after trusting your company. (See some other reviews).

Loved my counselor, office management is the reason for the low review. Was with the practice over a year, billing was outsourced and although they had my payment info on file, was sporadically collected so I was contacted about a large outstanding balance which surprised me because I would see charges. So two things one I was being charged for play therapy, which I didnāt even know was a thing, but that was never disclosed to me and they raise their rates in 2024. I was not notified. Very disappointing as I really love my therapist, but other administrative issues such as a canceled appointment weeks in advance, and then I was charged a cancellation fee that I had to fight to get reimbursed.

I am a local mental health therapist who has attended professional development training through Garrett Counseling. Dr. Ashley Garrett is extremely knowledgeable and approachable. I left the training really impressed and excited to use these new skills and interventions with my own clients. I am just a few days into using these new interventions and I have gotten great feedback from my clients. I highly recommend Dr. Garrett and Garrett Counseling.
