This school is awesome. It offers a smaller class size and my granddaughter is able to be more focused in class. She was attending one of the other middle schools in the district and went from a A student in the elementary school to having major struggles in the middle school. The uniforms have helped her with getting ready for school each and she is no longer distracted by clothing. Every school isn't for everybody but this school has been excellent for us.

The school is awful. They make the students stand outside in the heat basically all day, not only that but their lunch is now only 20 minutes instead of an hour. They don't give them recess anymore. I also dislike this school because the uniforms are so damn expensive for no reason. Another thing I didn't like is that the food is cold and dry. I hate that they only give you 32 bathroom passes because if my kid has to go they have to go like tf is this school. Definitely do not recommend.

Lots of favoritism and bullying going on even from staff! Teachers cursing at students that’s unacceptable. All of the history academic is all about black history what about other minorities that resided in this city I seen white, Samoans, Mexicans at the graduation. You have a whole a year you can go over other history as well. Graduation was a mess and definitely favoritism by the Gilmore family having their daughter being valedictorian when she hasn’t event exceed as much as other peers excelled. Four other students moved very well in their academics being in khan academy Madison Gilmore was not one of them and the poem was definitely something different but not ideal. I can imagine their daughter got lots of favoritism and support but what about other students that deserve it as well. You can tell from the crowd many people saw the favoritism.
Overall wouldn’t recommend this school shows why most charters don’t succeed. life isn’t fair things don’t come easy they need to show that and practice what they preach.

While attending a graduation on June 14, 2024 for a family member at Garvey/Allen STEAM Academy, I witnessed a sham of an educational institution and its administrators. I had such high hopes for this school, but that literally failed in that one interaction. Obviously, if you're not a Gilmore (CEO/Founder and Co-founder, husband and wife) or connected to them in some way, you're overlooked as a student and parent. They made this graduation all about their daughter, who was an 8th grade graduate. Even so much so that one student spoke out LOUDLY about how unprofessional the school is. I left this graduation saddened for my family member that had to endure this clear "favoritism" that the CEO/Founder/Co-Founder Tiffany Gilmore and her family show. Also, I'm concerned about the future of this school. How does that make the other children feel when their hard-work goes unnoticed and they're likely passed over for a lot of opportunities for someone that's a Gilmore or connected to them? I truly hope this school gets it together because if they don't, it will come to an untimely fail in that community. The concept of the school is good but it is not ran effectively. Just from this interaction, I would NOT recommend parents to send their children here. Please do your research first.
