We stopped in for the last night of our vacation. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom had an additional small magnified mirror which was great since I can't see without glasses when doing makeup. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I did not get the names of the two females who helped us. They were amazing, as well as Tony who checked us out at the end. The pool looked fun but we did not have enough time to use it. The bar area also looked great. I would recommend this hotel.

1. The process for checking in early was completely mishandled. We had a large wedding party with a block of rooms with many guests arriving at different times. Rather than distribute rooms as they became available, they made us all wait until 3pm to check in. While they had rooms ready, they made excuses that the cleaning staff had to release them. It doesn't make any sense why you would have 20 people just waiting in your lobby for hours rather than help facilitate getting people checked into the rooms that were available. This caused a huge line at 3pm and other guests had to wait for all 20-25 of us to check in before they could. This could have been handled much better.
2. One of the front staff members was extremely rude to my aunt, even speaking about her to her husband as if she wasn't standing right there. It was completely unprofessional
3. They did not inform us that you have to request room cleaning services THE DAY BEFORE. So we were not able to get our rooms cleaned the next day. Then on top of that, they only have about 12 slots to even get on the room cleaning list, so it isn't even guaranteed that if you request it, you can get it.
4. The rooms were decent and clean and they have a good breakfast with a wide window of time.

This is my second time staying at the Hotel Marina.

A Hilton property, this is an interesting and chic type of boutique hotel. It is not homegrown and owned by a single proprietor, but it is boutique in the sense that there are nice personal touches here and there that make the experience comfortable when away from home.

Things are expressly clean, including the guest rooms, public spaces, and especially the pool as well. Everything is exceedingly clean and in good repair. I've never seen anything around the property that was not working and functionally correctly. The front desk is very personal and kind and helpful.

The location is within walking distance of numerous restaurants that include low end to very high end. It's in the midst of the Marina del Rey community, so everything you need is here. There's also parking that includes security gates in order to provide an extra layer of confidence. The hotel also rents bicycles where people could ride throughout the neighborhoods and along the waterfront. It is also about a mile and a half from Venice boulevard, so it's positioned right between the Marina, Culver City, and Venice Beach... Without the grittiness of being near Venice.

I booked a room for my father for his birthday here and although I was very skeptical based on the reviews, I am SO GLAD that I chose to go with this hotel. It was clean, spacious and even the bar area and bathrooms were clean for guest or visitors. Upon arriving, I was greeted by front desk staff, Leslie. SHE WAS AMAZING! Truly!! Her kindness and joy for why I was booking the room was so genuine. She was helpful and ensured that my dad would be taken care of when he arrived. Those are the small moments that turns BIG! Thank you, Leslie. Once I went to the room, it was perfect. Clean and had all necessities in there for one to feel comfortable staying. The room was updated and I loved the pool view for them. Overall, I am truly glad that I chose this hotel, it was 10s all across the board. For anyone that is skeptical based on reviews, please do like I did and try to go yourself first, before making judgment. Thank you MDR

Some of the hotel staff were very rude. Waited for 5 hours just to check in for room block reserved months in advance. We were told it was because they were keeping the rooms together but we all ended up on different floors anyway. Most guests did not receive complimentary water and cookie upon check in until the supervisor arrived. Some only got 1 key for a room for 2. They do not provide cleaning service without requesting it but didn't tell us when we checked in. Apparently you have to request service 24 hours in advance and spots are limited. Overall made the stay less than desirable. The location was close to shops and restaurants so that part was nice.

DoubleTree Review: Birthday Getaway

I recently stayed at the DoubleTree for a birthday getaway, and I have mixed feelings about the experience.

Upon arrival, the check-in process was quick and efficient, which was a great start to our stay. Our room appeared clean initially, but we quickly noticed some issues. The bathroom sink was dirty, and there were dirty towels already in the room. We reached out to housekeeping for more towels, and they were responsive, which was appreciated.

Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. We were looking forward to breakfast, but both mornings we were met with cold food. When we brought this to the staff's attention, we were told there was nothing they could do about it—I was disappointed, especially considering that breakfast cost us for two days.

We also wanted to enjoy some beverages at the bar during our stay. However, it seemed that the bartender was inexperienced; our drink orders were incorrect, and the food orders didn’t match what we requested. We communicated this to the front desk, but it felt like our concerns fell on deaf ears.

On the positive side, the hotel is in a great location, which is a definite plus. However, I believe the DoubleTree needs to focus more on customer service and the quality of their food to enhance the overall experience. With some improvements in these areas, it could be a much better choice.

Hotel room was clean, Pool area felt like a spa experience, the Breakfast was a buffet style and service was great. We always got asked if we needed more drinks of any choice, and or more options. The parking area was kept gated at all times and we were able to enter in and out with the Digital key. It felt very secure with security guards walking around patrolling the guest’s vehicles. Over all I would recommend, had a very nice time! Special thanks to Tony V. a very polite genuine person working at the front desk!

This place is noisy as hell both inside and out. You can hear every little sound, even the wind, from the sliding door. We get waken up by police sirens all the time. There's also no sound insulation inside the rooms and you can hear everything. The doors are also super loud which makes everyone sound like they're slamming their doors as hard as they can.

I've been in better 2 star hotels for both service and room quality. This is supposedly a 4 star hotel too. I would give this 0 stars if I could. The worst part? You have to pay for parking.
