I have a child in 11th grade at Rehobeth high school. She has missed 5 or 6 days since August, most of those days were due to Covid. She has been a straight A student the whole time she’s been in High School. She also has a 4.75 GPA during that time. Most people would consider that a model student. However, we received a Truancy letter from the school, for those 5 or 6 days she’s had to miss in the past eight months. In the letter they are trying to make her attend Saturday school from 8:00 til Noon. She now has to try to get off work because of this. Every bit of money she makes goes into her college savings. But she won’t be attending Saturday school. I’m not going to let her go. There is no reason for it. I’d understand if she was barely passing and a trouble maker but that’s not her. She has never been in trouble, at school. The school board needs to be realistic about this policy. I have also written excuses for every day missed, however some of these excuses are not listed online and as a result she receives an “unexcused” absence because someone at the school doesn’t record the excuses in her online school account. It’s to the point that I will start taking pictures of every excuse in the future. This has only been a problem this year. A maximum five days missed over a 10 month period is insane. Kids still get sick, kids still have appointments, everyone has family emergencies that arise from time-to-time, etc. Parents beware

Front desk woman Mrs. Fowler is extremely rude. Been in twice and each time I she has been very hateful. I can’t believe how she can keep her position. She doesn’t know what she is doing either.
