Great place to relax, walk your dog, and enjoy nature. Hike, run and walk the trails. Kayak during warmer months and swim at your own risk. No entree fee during off season but still well maintained. I believe you must be an Essex resident to access the park during open season. Perfect spot for picnics.

Wonderful walk in the woods. There were no issues with residency status when we went in January.

One of my favorite stomping grounds back when I was a kid. The town took it over and cleaned it up. Great place to spend a day enjoying the water. Nature trails around the entire reservoir, fishing, small craft (canoes) allowed, camping at the far end, dog friendly ( but you must be able to voice control your dog),no facilities. If you don't have a permit, it's $8

If the park was open to non-Essex residents, I would easily give it 5 stars. However, because it is so nice it would soon be overcrowded and probably not as nice =) So, sorry to folks who can't use the park. I swim in the brook several times a week during the summer months. The water is absolutely gorgeous, as is the view. Many local triathletes and swimmers train here in the mornings, so there is always company. If you catch a day at sunrise with mist coming off the water, you will definitely be amazed.

Be sure to download the updated trail guide. As visitors we weren't aware of this and ended up unintentionally on trails leading us not where we intended. Otherwise, good hiking and nice view from the summit.

What is not to like about this natural area? -The hiking trails are well maintained.
- Everyone who visits this place is friendly.
- you can bring a SUP or canoe and get out there
- It is close to Burlington for folks out of the area

Note: there are fees but it’s a great place and worth a visit- truly!

Beautiful lake. Some idiots were walking on the ice when the town said Don't Walk On the Lake the Ice is not thick now. Happy their dog did not fall through the ice. The trails are amazing though!
