Never substitute for a Jersey City Public School. They will not properly compensate you then do absolutely nothing about it when you mention it. They also do no training and hire people who speak English on a 1st grade level to sit in classes with our youth! This is the most corrupt educational system in the United States. If you have other options explore them.

the most helpful and personable person in the building is the security guard. Many departments have staff who seem unhappy, hard to reach, or uninterested in helping. This is just the bare minimum of what we experience. And if you’re applying to be a substitute teacher, the department that’s supposed to help us is completely lost. They often don’t know what to do, so they just hang up the phone. They’re incredibly unprofessional and rude. It’s hard to imagine how these people are around kids—they’re terrible.

This school need lots of improvement. First it needs at less two police officers one male, one female for the entire session the young adolescents attend there. Definitely need more teachers that cares for the all students and so the classes won’t be over packed. And the adolescent can focus and learn on the subjects. Should have a non-tolerant with no excuses and more stern with the rules like uniform, all types of negative behaviors ,cleanliness, and new lockers. The school receives government funds and not applying it, where it needs to be for the children’s of Jersey City. Needs a good management person for funds and necessities. Might need more funds to meet the needs.

The most helpful, personable person in that building is only the security guard. Most departments have employees who sound miserable, do not want to be bothered, can not be reached, or simply do not want to assist. This is just bare minimum not even a in depth review or mentioning school issues. The school system could be way more efficient in contrast to neighboring towns.

The graduation speeches delivered by the board members are abysmal. Their speeches lack substance, creativity, and fail to inspire or provide any meaningful guidance to graduating students. Attending graduations has become an exercise in enduring painfully generic and unimportant speeches that offer nothing more than clichéd phrases reminiscent of a "live, love, laugh" poster. It is disheartening to see such lackluster efforts from those in positions of influence.

Absolutely The Worst and extremely unprofessional. My son was in the same school for 4 years with the wrong address on file I have given the school the correct address over 10 times ( ps 22) now it is August and my son is supposed to start middle school in a 2 weeks and still no papers in the middle. I call board of education and to my surprise they still had the wrong address on file and they registered my son in the wrong district in the wrong school but that isnt my biggest problem with them they tell me there is nothing they can do and my son will have to go there along with no transportation until they fix there error in the system and if I feel like it I go go to the school on the first day and ask child study team if they can find him an opening in the school he was supposed to go to to begin with. I have had it with Jersey city board of education and there poor choice of staff members who make no efforts in doing there actual job. I will be bringing it to court. my child is autistic and deserves so much more.

I don’t think our children should have to go back to school and be put at risk of getting covid and spreading it to family members or God forbid become hospitalized. I also don’t think kids should be put in a position to have to wear mask everyday for hours at a time- you can barely breathe in them! They can just remain home and be free. I also don’t think they should be put in a position where they will be treated as “a germ” or “contagious” from peers or teachers if they don’t have their mask or come to close to another. Just going to the grocery store alone, people are treated like we’re/they’re hazardous by staff members and people being rude and disrespectful about social distancing. I don’t feel our children should have to be exposed to any of this. Let alone any biases which anyone may have due to the world news going on today. Outside is a risk to expose my children to during these tribal times we are experiencing. Fall is flu season anyway. Let them stay home!

Latanya (sorry if I did not spell your name correctly) very helpful and so nice. I had no idea you need a transfer card for your child to get into a charter school. She was so friendly and helpful. But non of the schools are open to obtain a transfer card🤔
